Position: Supplier Quality & Development Manager
Location: China – Shanghai Area
Report To: Sourcing Director – Materials Processing
The Group Supplier Development Manager will be responsible for will be responsible for acting upon all key supplier quality & supplier process issues, ensuring effective problem resolution and improvement in supply base with collaboration with Engineering and Quality. This role can be based in any Terex locations in China.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Work Closely with Suppliers with early involvement to develop advance component development plans, advising suppliers on right tooling, checking aids, providing timely inputs to suppliers on Quality, Delivery, and field issues with a view to institute proactive approach on quality
- Support development of strong supply base to deliver world class quality at lowest total cost of ownership
- Project management of Sourcing Projects across metal fabrications, castings and forgings
- Effectively use and deploy Advance product quality planning ( APQP), Structured Production part approval process (PPAP), Measurement system analysis (MSA) to ensure supplier measurements are consistent with Terex site measurements
- Be the focal point of all supplier related quality issues from engineering, through supply chain and operations and in-the-field.
- Manage key suppliers to ensure issues are effectively resolved in a timely manner and ongoing performance is improved
- Design, develop and improve processes, systems, measures and action plans that support the above
- A significant amount of local and Global travel may be required (about 30% or more)
Experience & Qualifications
- Must be Fluent in verbal and written English and Mandarin
- Must have Robust experience in Welding Process and quality control of steel fabrications. Added knowledge of steel castings and forgings will be good to have.
- Very good Practical experience on measurements
- Considerable track record of Supplier Development in Steel Fabrications, Steel castings in heavy equipment manufacturing organization
- Degree or Diploma educated or equivalent experience in an Engineering/Manufacturing environment
- Experience of working with suppliers in problem resolution & performance improvement
- Able to demonstrate effective situational leadership, and business mindset
- Experience in interpersonal skills and ability to work with different cultures
Knowledge, skills & Abilities:
- Positive/can-do approach, Good data analysis using advanced Excel and Presentation Skills
- Proactive communicator at all levels, Good level of written and Spoken English
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of Welding Process, Foundry Process on Steel Fabrications and castings
- Expert knowledge in the application of Quality Management Systems, problem resolution techniques and improvement tools essential – 8D,APQP,PPAP,MSA
- Ability to work unsupervised and prioritize the work
- Understanding of mechanical/metallurgical characteristics and validation techniques
