About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Software Engineer – Java, Angular & GenAI


In this role, you will:

  • Lead moderately complex initiatives and deliverables within technical domain environments
  • Contribute to large scale planning of strategies
  • Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs associated with technology domain, including upgrades and deployments
  • Review moderately complex technical challenges that require an in-depth evaluation of technologies and procedures
  • Resolve moderately complex issues and lead a team to meet existing client needs or potential new clients needs while leveraging solid understanding of the function, policies, procedures, or compliance requirements
  • Collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues, and mid-level managers to resolve technical challenges and achieve goals
  • Lead projects and act as an escalation point, provide guidance and direction to less experienced staff


Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education


Desired Qualifications:

  • Design, develop, and maintain full‑stack applications using Java, Spring Boot, Angular, microservices, MongoDB, and AI‑driven components.
  • Translate business and functional requirements into clean, maintainable, and testable code.
  • Contribute to technical design discussions and follow established architectural patterns and engineering standards.
  • Backend Development (Java)
  • Build and enhance backend services using Java, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and RESTful APIs.
  • Develop scalable microservices that support both traditional and AI‑driven features.
  • Work with MongoDB and relational databases to design schemas, queries, and integrations.
  • Implement resiliency patterns including retries, circuit breakers, caching, and asynchronous processing.
  • Ensure performance, security, and reliability of backend services.
  • Frontend Development (Angular)
  • Develop user‑friendly, responsive web applications using Angular, TypeScript, RxJS, and modern UI patterns.
  • Implement reusable UI components and maintain consistency across applications.
  • Integrate frontend applications with backend and AI services, handling asynchronous workflows and real‑time updates.
  • Collaborate with UX/UI designers to deliver high‑quality user experiences.
  • GenAI Engineering
  • Integrate LLM‑based capabilities (e.g., using Azure OpenAI or enterprise LLM platforms) into applications.
  • Implement AI features such as intelligent search, summarization, classification, and recommendation workflows.
  • Support RAG (Retrieval‑Augmented Generation) pipelines using embeddings and vector search technologies.
  • Apply prompt engineering best practices and handle error cases, fallbacks, and safe‑output mechanisms.
  • Work within defined AI governance, security, and compliance guidelines.
  • Quality Engineering & Operational Excellence
  • Write unit, integration, and end‑to‑end tests for backend, frontend, and AI workflows.
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality, performance, and maintainability.
  • Monitor applications in production, troubleshoot issues, and support root‑cause analysis.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of development practices, tooling, and automation.
  • Collaboration & Team Contribution
  • Work closely with Tech Leads, Architects, Product Managers, Data Scientists, and QA teams to deliver business outcomes.
  • Provide technical input during sprint planning, estimation, and backlog refinement.
  • Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and knowledge sharing.
  • Actively contribute to engineering documentation and reusable components.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Strong years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Strong experience working on enterprise‑scale, full‑stack applications.
  • Backend – Java
  • Strong years of experience with Java, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, REST APIs, and microservices.
  • Solid understanding of JVM fundamentals, multithreading, and service‑level performance tuning.
  • Strong years of experience with Angular, TypeScript, RxJS, component‑based architecture, and state management.
  • GenAI / AI Integration
  • Hands‑on experience integrating LLMs into applications.
  • Familiarity with prompt engineering, embeddings, and RAG concepts.
  • Awareness of AI risks such as hallucinations and data privacy concerns.
  • Database Technologies (Including MongoDB)
  • Strong experience with MongoDB, including:
  • Document modeling and schema design
  • Indexing and query optimization
  • Aggregation pipelines
  • Working knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL, Oracle, etc.).
  • DevOps & Tooling
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git‑based workflows, Docker, and basic Kubernetes concepts.
  • Familiarity with automated testing frameworks for backend and frontend applications.
  • Cloud experience (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
  • Exposure to Kafka or event‑driven architectures.
  • Experience working with API gateways or feature flag frameworks.
  • Familiarity with MLOps/LLMOps concepts.
  • Domain Knowledge (Optional)
  • Experience in financial services, trading platforms, or risk‑management systems.
