Our Global Legal, Compliance and Regulatory (GLCR) team provides first class advice to colleagues and functions across the organization – ensuring AIG navigates an ever-changing landscape that spans state, federal, and international lines. The team has a multi-dimensional impact, from helping avoid legal exposure to collaborating with other functions to develop cutting-edge new products.

How you will create an impact 

Reporting directly to the Chief Compliance Officer for APAC and China, you will be the senior compliance leader for AIG Singapore. You will have full responsibility for the entire compliance framework, acting as the key interface with our Singapore business stakeholders and relevant regulatory bodies, including the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS). 

  • Lead and own the establishment and/or enhancement of compliance governance initiatives for AIG Singapore. To liaise with process owners to discuss assessment and observations, including efforts related to development and implementation of applicable Compliance policies and procedures. 
  • Partner with business and functional colleagues to help achieve sustainable, profitable growth by providing advice on key compliance risks to the business; devise practical measures to comply, strategies for execution, assist with control design and governance; and align resources to manage risk intelligently. 
  • Devise proactive plans around managing regulatory implications of changes and engaging key stakeholders regarding such changes. 
  • Partner with relevant stakeholders to monitor and implement regulatory changes impacting AIG Singapore and ensure senior management and Board are updated on these developments. 
  • Perform the Annual Compliance Risk Assessment (CRA) in accordance with requirements from the Global Compliance Group and work with Local Stakeholders to review/ address high compliance risks areas identified from the CRA.   
  • Conduct compliance related training in accordance with the Training Plan. Ensure completion of relevant AIG Compliance training programs. 
  • Policies & Procedures: Implement new and updated policies and procedures and ensure that all governance procedures are completed to localize the policies in Singapore. 
  • Sanctions Screening: Undertake and supervise the overall sanctions screening process, working closely with Financial Crime Group for escalation of potential matches. Perform periodic review as required by FCG and General Insurance Sanctions Processing (GISP). 
  • Compliance Records Management: coordinate with business units to resolve issues and gaps, run the Records and Information Management week.
  • Perform the role of a Business Continuity Process Coordinator and undertake all related activities. 
  • Undertake Periodic Reviews exercises and risk assessments. 
  • As required, lead or assist with any special investigations that may be necessary. 
  • Prepare all management reporting material for monthly and quarterly reporting for management committees and the board. 
  • Work with the Data Analytics team to ideate and develop tools to monitor compliance and/or regulatory risks. 
  • Implement and ensure compliance with the overall AIG Compliance framework. 
  • Assist the regional Chief Compliance Officer in Compliance-related queries and projects, when required. 
  • Provide oversight and guidance to the Compliance Manager who reports into this role. 

 

What you’ll need to succeed 

  • 8+ years of relevant compliance experience in Compliance, Legal or Audit. Preferably in an insurance company. 
  • A professional educational background; preferably legal or audit qualifications. 
  • Ability to work effectively within a matrix organization and with employees of all levels. 
  • Approachable, self-initiator, problem solving with the ability to confront issues diplomatically. 
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the presence and ability to interact and build credibility across all levels of staff. 
  • Strong technical knowledge of MAS regulations and reporting requirements.  
  • Understanding of insurance processes, including the applicability of key laws and regulations. 
  • Ability to work independently while assuming ownership of assigned tasks.
