As Roblox’s Principal Strategic Partnerships Counsel, you will be responsible for supporting the company’s business development and partnerships teams. You will help draft and negotiate strategic partnership agreements,  guide strategic discussions with partners, and advise on other related contracting and legal matters as needed. You will have in-depth experience negotiating strategic deals and a passion for dealmaking and business-focused counseling. We’re looking for candidates who are highly collaborative, work optimally with teammates, internal clients, and cross functional partners, including Business Development, Partnerships, Product, Privacy, MarComms, and other groups on the legal team. 

Role reports to Senior Director, Global Product & Partnerships Counsel and based in our San Mateo, CA headquarters from Tuesday-Thursday and remote Monday and Friday. 

You will: 

  • Be responsible for contract drafting, negotiation and advisory responsibilities for Roblox’s partnership and business development teams
  • Provide legal and strategic business advice to help develop a comprehensive, long-term approach to our relationships with key partners and the commercial aspects of our key products and programs
  • Provide commercial transaction support for other departments as the need arises
  • Administration and resolution of legal issues and contract interpretation matters that arise in existing commercial relationships
  • Willingness and ability to manage numerous deals, meet tight deadlines, and work extended hours when necessary to complete projects

You have: 

  • 12+ years of proven experience as a lawyer, including in support of business development teams, strategic partnerships
  • Entertainment / platform experience 
  • Skilled at commercial contracting and negotiating; strategic oversight of deal terms across partners
  • Ability to work autonomously and optimally within tight timeframes in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Strong analytical capabilities and ability to exercise good judgment with available information.
  • Ability to take initiative to identify and solve problems in a business-friendly and solutions-oriented manner.
  • Ability to think strategically, commercially and practically.
  • Excellent interpersonal and time management skills with an ability to multitask, prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • High degree of professional ethics and integrity.
  • Flexibility to work across various projects and teams.
  • A license to practice law in a US jurisdiction

For roles that are based at our headquarters in San Mateo, CA: The starting base pay for this position is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. All full-time employees are also eligible for equity compensa
