This is how we aim to prevent, stop and cure diseases and ensure everyone has access to healthcare today and for generations to come. Join Roche, where every voice matters.

The Position

Our Global Internship Programme in Innovation & Sustainability (#IP2TIS) offers a unique opportunity for passionate individuals to gain hands-on experience in the pharmaceutical industry while making a positive impact on the world.

Are you ready to join a global network spanning 20+ countries, where bright minds collaborate to tackle real-world challenges in Innovation & Sustainability? Do you want to work on impactful projects, shape the future, and drive change from within?

As an intern, you will contribute to a project focused on improving clinical trial readiness by using digital engagement signals to support smarter site selection. The project aims to complement traditional historical enrollment data with a more dynamic view of current site activity, helping teams identify sites with the strongest likelihood of timely activation and successful First Patient In milestones. Within your first 3 months, you are expected to help deliver an exploratory feature analysis, a machine learning classification prototype that categorizes sites by readiness level, and an interactive dashboard for study managers. Your work will support faster access to innovative medicines by helping reduce zero-enroller sites, accelerate trial timelines, and improve the efficiency of clinical trial operations. This internship offers the opportunity to work on a real-world AI use case with direct impact on clinical development.

The Opportunity

  • Analyze and preprocess digital engagement datasets to derive structured features for site readiness assessment

  • Perform exploratory data analysis to identify patterns and relationships between engagement signals and site activity indicators

  • Develop and validate a supervised machine learning model to classify site readiness into high, medium, and low categories

  • Evaluate model performance using appropriate metrics and interpret feature importance to support practical decision-making

  • Design and build a prototype dashboard that visualizes site readiness scores and rankings for study managers

  • Translate healthcare professional engagement signals into site-level insights to support proactive trial planning

  • Document findings, insights, and recommendations in a structured report

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to help shape a data-driven framework for smarter site prioritization

Who You Are

You are enrolled or have completed your studies at a university, preferably in the field of Computer Science, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning, Statistics, Bioinformatics, Biomedical Engineering with a focus on Data Analytics,  within the last 12 months and are interested in applying your knowledge in a modern working environment as part of an internship of at least 3 months.

Furthermore you are

  • Proficient in Python, especially Pandas, NumPy, and Scikit-learn, and comfortable with SQL for data extraction and manipulation

  • Strong in data analysis, statistical fundamentals, exploratory data analysis, and feature engineering

  • Experienced with machine learning and interested in building practical classification models

  • Familiar with data storytelling or dashboarding tools and able to communicate findings clearly

  • A structured and curious problem solver who can work independently and experiment with new approaches

If you meet most but not all qualifications, we still encourage you to apply.

Additional information

The internship is expected to start between 1 and 16 July 2026 and will last at least 3 months.
