Job Profile Summary

Sysco’s Merchandising Growth & Operations teams are driving the evolution of how we engage with our supplier partners to enable joint success and drive profitable growth. Delivering a partnership experience that makes Sysco the “distributor of choice” with suppliers requires blending the best of our people with new technologies, programs, and approaches, including:

  • Expanding the offerings and capabilities of our cutting-edge Partnership Growth Initiative (PGI) data sharing and insights platform

  • Growing and managing our industry-first Sysco+ supplier growth program delivering market beating ROIs

  • Building out our supplier performance management capabilities including P&Ls, scorecards, and actionable insights across supplier base

  • Enhancing communications and ability to connect and do business with Sysco via Sysco Supplier Suite

  • Own and manage large-scale supplier programs, such as annual summits

  • Manage performance fee programs

  • Build out contract management capabilities for improved performance, partnerships, and profit management

The Senior Director-SRM will be a key leader in Sysco’s go-forward strategy and growth. This candidate will help define the overall approach and build the tracking & performance management capabilities to ensure measurable financial impacts in the business. The Senior Director, SRM will have financial & operational ownership for PGI, Sysco+, supplier funding, supplier communications, supplier summits, supplier insights, supplier P&Ls, and supplier performance fee programs ensuring we achieve the best for our customers and our shareholders.

The Senior Director-SRM will be responsible for working with the leaders across the Commercial, Field, Sales, Merchandising, Brand, Operations, and Technology teams.  They will define a cohesive approach for effective collaboration from goal setting to prioritization to execution as well as continuously improve the programs & capabilities being built, developed and expanded.

This candidate should have a cross-section of skills spanning strategy, technology, relationship management, analytical storytelling, and be an experienced, innovative, influential leader that has the ability to navigate matrix organizations. They will lead a cross-functional team working closely with executive leadership, and multiple geographies and business units (e.g., USBL, Canada, Europe, Specialty).

Duties and Responsibilities:

Development of personalization strategies, measurement & tracking:  

  • Define & implement the overall strategic roadmaps for PGI, Sysco+/supplier funding programs, and supplier performance

  • Define and build out the next evolution of PGI to include tiering and capabilities

  • Provide strategic recommendations on Sysco’s opportunity for growth with our supplier partners in partnership with Go-to-Market (GTM) and category teams

  • Analyze results & deliver actionable insights to continuously improve and grow supplier performance with Sysco to deliver market-beating performance

  • Drive the management of forecasting and reporting of financial performance of suppliers, including USBL and enterprise-wide

  • Deliver and embed supplier scorecards into joint business planning (JBPs) and supplier reviews

  • Frequently present to senior leadership and collaborate closely cross-functionally across the entire organization

  • Drive operational cadences working with cross-functional business teams (including the field organization), Finance, Data Science, and Business Technology teams to ensure that business / program roadmaps are effectively enabled, tracked, and optimized

Team development:

  • Lead, mentor and develop a talented team across functional disciplines comprised of finance, data and analytics, sales, merchandising, operations, and suppliers

  • Build a performance-driven team of direct reports, internal and external partners that works seamlessly and efficiently

  • Drive new ways of working, in a truly cross-functional and agile way, across various teams in the organization

  • Coach direct reports and help grow & shape their career progression

Education Required:

  • Bachelors in an analytical field (e.g., Finance, Economics Engineering)

Education Preferred:

  • MBA or other advanced degree from a top tier educational institution

Experience Required:

  • 10+ years in a corporate setting or leading professional services company in an operational, P&L, or strategic role such as Strategy, Finance, Sales or Category Management

Experience Preferred:

  • Wholesale distribution, retail / ecommerce, or CPG experience helpful

Technical Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven ability to establish credibility and influence executive-level stakeholders as well as the ability to distil complex issues to the critical facts and questions needed for an executive audience to make informed decisions

  • Strong problem-solving skills to take ambiguous problems and develop a structured and logical framework for define the problem, analyze the data, and develop solutions and take action

  • Strong ability to manage ambiguity and guide the organization through it towards clear and decisive action plans

  • Experience working in an agile team environment

  • Demonstrated ability to test hypotheses, synthesize insights, and drive results

  • Proven ability to make data driven decisions, and communicating to influence

  • Deep understanding of business value drivers, corresponding business impact, and relationship between use case strategies and business considerations

  • Ability to establish a collaborative work environment that enables a cross-functional team with various backgrounds and capabilities to execute at a high-level

  • Superb verbal, written, and interpersonal skills; fluency interfacing with both technical and management teams and the ability to make complicated analytics and concepts understandable and actionable

  • Professional attitude, service orientation, strong work ethic; superb team player

  • Approaches every problem from an outside-in perspective first and does not allow the status quo to influence your analysis

  • Experience building operational / performance management dashboards to drive outcomes & behaviors

  • Familiarity with various reporting / dashboarding tools (e.g., Tableau, Salesforce)
