DESCRIPTION:
Join our R&D organization as a Project Manager III and contribute to innovation and excellence across Thermo Fisher Scientific's diverse portfolio. You will manage complex, multi-disciplinary projects from inception through successful delivery while ensuring alignment with business objectives and customer needs. Working closely with cross-functional teams spanning R&D, manufacturing, quality, and commercial organizations, you will help bring innovative solutions to market that enable our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently manages several medium size and/or complex active projects (number of projects depends on client needs and complexity of projects).
  • Structures project(s) in line with client strategy, inclusive of identifying needs, establishing goals, defining resource requirements and tracking performance.  Skilled at identifying gaps and prioritizing improvement opportunities.
  • Proactively diagnoses project challenges, developing solutions and/or overcoming undesirable situations with minimal guidance and may mentor other team members on project resolution.
  • Effectively defines, tracks, and manages budgets and revisions to reflect scope changes and established commitments.
  • Understands customer contract terms & conditions and skilled in negotiation techniques.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Performs and interprets comprehensive needs analyses which reflect an understanding of the customer needs and value proposition.
  • Knowledgeable of Thermo Fisher’s solutions portfolio and communicates company’s value proposition in relation to the competition.
  • Maintains close contact with the client representatives through meetings, site visits, teleconferences, and other forums ensuring that issues are addressed and project timelines are met.  Serves as primary contact and communication line between Company and Customer.
  • Independently leverages and interprets data to ensure successful projects and customer satisfaction.

Project Management Leadership:

  • Meets regularly with project team members and production staff to understand operations and issues in connection to the project(s).  Coordinates internal development activities key to ensuring successful product transfers.
  • Seeks mentorship and guidance to drive personal development and further strengthen project management.
  • Ensures that all communication is clear, focused and based on a solid understanding of needs using the most appropriate medium.
  • Works with others to quickly resolve or collaborate on solutions to problems.  Facilitates alignment on timelines among cross-functional teams.
  • Takes ownership of project results, fosters respect from team members, and ensures agreement on the overall vision.

REQUIREMENTS:
• Advanced Degree plus 3 years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree plus 5 years of experience in project/program management, preferably in regulated industries like pharmaceuticals, medical devices or high-tech manufacturing
•  Preferred Fields of Study: Engineering, Science, Pharmacy or related technical field
•  Project Management Professional (PMP) certification desired
• Additional certifications in Agile/Scrum, SAFe, Six Sigma or related methodologies beneficial
• Experience leading complex technical projects involving cross-functional, globally distributed teams
• Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, tools and best practices
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to influence senior stakeholders
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with data-driven decision making
• Demonstrated leadership abilities in matrix organizations
• Experience managing project budgets, resources, risks and stakeholder relationships
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and achieve results in a responsive environment
• Fluency in English required; additional languages beneficial
• Willingness to travel up to 20% as needed
• Expertise in relevant technical domain (e.g. manufacturing processes, validation) based on role focus
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements and quality management systems
• Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build relationships at all levels
• Experience with continuous improvement and process optimization
