Job Description

What You Will Do

The Quality Director oversees all quality systems, processes, teams, and performance metrics across the three Mexico manufacturing facilities supplying Chiller sub-assemblies. Responsibilities include:

Strategic Leadership

Define, align, and execute a regional Quality strategy for the three Mexico plants, ensuring compliance with global Johnson Controls Quality standards and alignment with Chiller Product Business Unit (PBU) requirements.

Partner with PBU, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain leadership to ensure quality is embedded throughout design, sourcing, production, and delivery.

Drive the adoption of a standardized Quality Operating System (QOS) across all plants.

Operational Excellence

Build a culture of systematic problem solving using JCMS, 8D, Six Sigma, PFMEA/DFMEA, statistical control, and other enterprise methods.

Lead Quality Assurance, Quality Engineering, Supplier Quality, and Incoming Inspection activities across all sites.

Implement and oversee APQP processes to ensure robust launch and lifecycle quality performance.

Deploy tools, standards, and processes to improve manufacturability, reduce defects, and eliminate Cost of Poor Quality.

Quality Performance & Customer Focus.

Create and execute quality improvement plans to achieve world-class metrics in ERI, YRR, Internal PPM, scrap, and customer satisfaction.

Strengthen feedback loops with Chiller final assembly plants and key customer segments to ensure expectations are understood and exceeded.

People Leadership.

Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing Quality organization across all three sites, including leadership succession and capability development.

Foster an inclusive, engaged culture with strong collaboration across operations, engineering, and senior leadership. Lead talent assessments, certification programs, and technical training within the Quality function.

Cross-Functional Collaboration.

Serve as the primary Quality interface between Mexico component plants and North America Chiller assembly plants.

Ensure timely and transparent communication of issues, risks, and improvement actions to regional and global stakeholders.

What We Look For

Required Qualifications.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Operations Management, or a related field (MS/MBA preferred).
  • 10+ years of increasing leadership responsibility in Quality and Operations within a multi-site manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated capability leading Quality organizations serving complex sub-component or assembly operations.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to create vision, influence stakeholders, and drive cross-functional alignment.
  • Deep expertise in APQP, 8D, Six Sigma, Quality Control Plans, PFMEA/DFMEA, Gauge R&R, Standard Work, and statistical methods.
  • Ability to engage effectively from the shop floor to executive teams.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience leading Quality in global or multi-plant operations.

Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.

Prior experience supporting or supplying HVAC, Chiller, or industrial components manufacturing.
