This role in the Appointed Actuary Function team supports the stochastic modelling development and maintenance for actuarial covering multiple reporting basis. It also involves support for various projects initiatives covering financial and/or process enhancements and solutions design.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and supports the actuarial stochastic model development and maintenance including implementation of new product, dynamic actions, investment strategies.

  • Coordinate with BAU teams (including IFRS17, HKRBC, and Par Management teams) to ensure the consistency of actuarial models for various purposes. Ensure model changes are implemented according to agreed timeline and priority, with proper testing and documentation.

  • Supports process improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and automation of key actuarial processes, with particular focus on HKRBC/ORSA and Par Management areas.

  • Supports the exploration and implementation of financial optimization initiatives to improve financial and business outcomes with holistic view.

  • Provides support to Chief Actuary on various ad-hoc projects and business initiatives

  • Closely work with various stakeholders (including within actuarial, and with other departments) to thoroughly understand requirements and efficiently deliver modelling/optimization/project outcomes.

Qualifications and Preferred skills

  • Degree-holder in Actuarial Science or related discipline.

  • Qualified Actuary of close to fellowship.

  • At least 6 years of working experience within life insurance industry, preferably in actuarial valuation and stochastic modelling area.

  • Experience in actuarial stochastic modelling (e.g., Prophet / PathWise / AXIS, etc.) or data processing tools (e.g., Alteryx, etc.) are strong assets.

  • Experience in IFRS17 / HKRBC / Par Management / Project Management areas are added advantages.

  • Strong technical, and analytical, and problem-solving skills, with good attention to details and task ownership.

  • Demonstrate initiative, commitment, and norm-challenging mindset to embrace various financial/process optimization initiatives.

  • Strong interpersonal/communication and task/time management skills to work with multiple stakeholders and manage multiple priorities.

  • Proficient command of spoken and written English and Chinese.
