  • CVS Central Fill pharmacies manage, fulfill, and ship prescriptions to retail stores in a closed-door setting. These pharmacies fulfill 10k-40k prescriptions per week utilizing multiple retail systems that are specialized for Central Fill operations. Under the supervision of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians are responsible for managing activities relating to the production of central fill prescriptions, shipping, inventory management, and other functions required for pharmacy operations. In order to do so, they are required to multi-task; interpret, connect, and process information within the multiple fulfillment systems and make decisions that will ensure prescriptions are completed within the timeline required for on-time and cost-efficient delivery to the retail stores.

    Responsibilities

    • Efficiently and accurately complete production activities in a prioritized fashion within a multistep pharmacy workflow, including: maintaining inventory and managing exceptions for orders in the automation system to ensure the machine is consistently producing; identifying and making corrections to orders produced by the automation system; counting, filling, and labeling prescription vials and bulk prescription items; staging and sorting orders for the next appropriate workflow step; making outbound calls as needed for exception resolution.

    • Efficiently and accurately complete shipping activities in a prioritized fashion, including: packaging orders for shipping; determining the appropriate system and packaging type to be used for processing the shipment; processing orders via one of the shipping systems; ensuring compliance with shipping methods for specific types of prescriptions (hazardous medication exceptions); managing orders that are shipped back to the pharmacy.

    • Efficiently and accurately complete inventory activities, including: evaluating and adjusting automated inventory forecasts to maintain an inventory level that will support a variable volume; accepting, checking in, and putting up daily and weekly deliveries; monitoring and ordering store supplies via multiple platforms; processing returns of expired and damaged medications.

    • Efficiently complete miscellaneous activities required for pharmacy operations, including: executing daily, weekly, and monthly automation cleaning and maintenance; reviewing and filing reporting as needed to monitor and optimize production and shipping; making outreach to the appropriate help desk(s) when issues arise and tracking those issues to resolution; investigating and resolving issues as reported by stores and customers.

    Essential Qualifications and Functions

    • Multi-task and work efficiently while maintaining accuracy

    • Understand and manage orders within a multistep pharmacy workflow

    • Ability to utilize basic functions of Microsoft Office including Teams, Outlook, Excel, and Word

    • Understand and use pharmacy terminology

    • Master the use of prescription processing

    • Use complex pharmacy automation equipment to produce orders

    • Effectively communicate with stores and vendors via phone

    • Understand and work in compliance with appropriate pharmacy rules and regulations

    • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive data, including protected health information

    • Flexible availability to work various shift times

    • Must be at least 16 years of age

    • Pharmacy Technician certification or license, as required by state Board of Pharmacy, to work as a pharmacy technician

    • Attention and Focus: The ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time without being distracted

    • Communication Skills: 1) Use and understand verbal and written communication to interact with customers and colleagues, 2) Actively listening by giving full attention to what others are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times

    • Mathematical Reasoning: The ability to use math to solve a problem, such as calculating day’s supply of a prescription

    • Problem Resolution: 1)  Is able to judge when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong; recognizing there is a problem, 2) Choosing the best course of action when faced with a complex situation with several available options

    • Visual Acuity: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as: transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, reading, visual inspection involving small parts

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • Remaining upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time

    • Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for moving from one work area to another

    • Picking, pinching, typing or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than whole hand or arm

    • Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction

    • Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist

    • Stooping to a considerable degree and requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles

    • Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken word; those activities where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed accurately

    • Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication

    • Occasional lifting of up to 30 lbs; exerting up to 30 lbs of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects Ability to maintain regular and reliable attendance

    • Ability to stand during the entirety of shifts lasting 8+ hours

    • Manual dexterity of both hands and wrists

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Prior pharmacy technician experience

    • Previous experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting

The typical pay range for this role is:

$17.25 - $27.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.  The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.
