We are looking for an experienced Senior Software development manager to lead the development of highly secure operating system for Kindle E-readers and also lead teams that provide productivity features. In this role, you will be a member of the leadership team and a technical leader responsible for development and operations. You will manage software managers and technical leaders. The ideal candidate is excited about their influence in operating system stack for Kindle, and is passionate about delivering high-quality deliverables in a hyper-growth environment where priorities shift swiftly. Our newest leader thinks big, has an entrepreneurial spirit, establishes strong relationships with business stakeholders, is passionate about the customer experience and has a track record of building new teams and delivering large programs from the ground up. We are looking for a leader who has expertise shipping products to enterprise customers and understands the nuance of creating enterprise grade product.
Key job responsibilities
In this role, you will set goals, team structure and processes, define/develop/realize the strategy and roadmap, identify resource requirements and hire against it, develop the careers of managers and engineers, deliver high-quality software that exceeds customer expectations, write docs that communicates bold vision, and maintain operational excellence of the services you own.
A day in the life
You will work with stakeholders from Kindle devices and Services to define/deliver roadmap, cost new requirements, make prioritization trade-offs, and track dependencies. You will brainstorm new ideas with principal engineers to identify architectural synergies and address requirements. You will review the operational and ticket dashboards to identify and prioritize customer issues resolution. You will identify resource requirements, hire against it, coach, mentor managers and engineers, and plan their careers. You will author docs to communicate bold vision and project updates.

- 5+ years of engineering team management experience
- 10+ years of planning, designing, developing and delivering consumer software experience
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
- Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects and development teams in an Agile environment
- Experience designing and developing large scale, high-traffic applications

Basic Qualifications
- 10+ years of engineering experience- 5+ years of engineering team management experience
- 10+ years of planning, designing, developing and delivering consumer software experience
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems
- Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects and development teams in an Agile environment
