Job Description

Position Overview

The Medical Assistant is responsible in providing compassionate and professional care to individuals with eating disorders and to assist TEP Physicians to improve quality of patient care and maximize number of clients seen.

Schedule:

Monday & Tuesday from 8 am - 4:30 pm

Thursday from 8 am - 4:30 pm

Friday from 7 am - 3:30 pm. No weekends or holidays

Compensation:  $30 per hr

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Communicate with clients, staff and outside contacts on behalf of the Physician
  • Chart preparation and documentation
  • Prepare exam rooms and room clients
  • Take vitals (blood pressure, height/weight, etc.), EKGs, blood draws
  • Give injections
  • Call in prescriptions
  • Maintain client files and inventory of medical supplies and forms
  • Call for labs, growth charts, medical records.
  • Assist in care coordination with other members of patient’s treatment team
  • Foster good relationships with patients and co-workers
  • Manage multiple priorities and variations in workload
  • Report questions, ideas, and concerns to Physician
  • Various projects as assigned by Physician

 Education Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of accredited Medical Assistant program. Must obtain certification in the first 6 months of employment.

 Professional Qualifications:

  • Experience and interest in mental health nursing desirable.
  • Minimum 1 year clinical experience.
  • Demonstrated self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities and variations in workload.

 Other Qualifications:

  • Employees at Residential or Inpatient sites must have a valid driver’s license and be authorized to drive. 
  • Employees at Residential or Inpatient sites are required to have a current Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.  
  • Employees at Residential or Inpatient sites are required to have a current First Aid certification within 30 days of hire.  
  • Employees at Residential or Inpatient sites in North Carolina or Georgia are required to have a current CPI certification within 30 days of hire. 
  • Employees at Residential site in Washington are required to have a Washington State Department of Health Food Handler permit within 30 days of hire.

  Workplace Environment: 

  • Standing 35% and Sitting 65%
  • Bending, twisting, kneeling, stooping or crouching when appropriate.
  • Lift, carry, push or pull up to approx. 25 pounds (supplies, etc.)
