Position Overview
The Senior Analyst, ESG and CSR supports Burlington’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) communications and reporting efforts, helping translate the company’s environmental and social initiatives into clear, compelling, and credible communications for internal and external stakeholders. Reporting to the Manager of ESG, Climate, and CSR, this role plays a key role in developing Burlington’s annual CSR Report and related communications materials, while also supporting broader ESG initiatives such as external benchmarking and ESG ratings.This role will collaborate closely with subject matter experts (SMEs), internal stakeholders, and external partners to support CSR reporting, ESG disclosures, and stakeholder communications, while helping ensure Burlington’s reporting remains transparent, accurate, and aligned with evolving stakeholder expectations.
A Day in the Life
CSR Reporting Administration (60%)
Manage the data collection and validation process for the annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Report.
Partner with internal teams to train Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) on best practices for providing data and supporting documentation for CSR reporting.
Ensure data and documentation provided by SMEs meet internal control requirements for quality, accuracy, and completeness.
Maintain supporting documentation for all CSR Report metrics and claims in an internal tracking document.
Serve as point of contact with Burlington’s Internal Audit Team as related to CSR Report metrics and claims.
Review and revise draft iterations of the CSR Report and CSR-related website content to enhance readability, accuracy, and overall effectiveness in communicating Burlington’s CSR story.
Support development and execution of the CSR communications plan.
Create CSR summary materials for internal and external use, including presentations, briefing documents, and investor-related materials.
Organize and lead annual post-report release meetings with SMEs to identify process improvement opportunities and strengthen future reporting cycles.
Benchmark retail peers’ CSR reports and public disclosures to ensure Burlington’s reporting remains aligned with evolving stakeholder expectations. Synthesize findings from benchmarking exercises and present insights to the ESG, Climate, and CSR team, leadership, and key stakeholders.
ESG Rating Optimization (15%)
Maintain organized tracking of ESG rating score changes and methodology updates to support enhanced internal visibility for Investor Relations and Legal.
Identify opportunities for Burlington to earn credit across ESG ratings by enhancing CSR policies, disclosures, and supporting documentation; partner with internal stakeholders to implement improvements where appropriate.
Support Burlington’s responses to ESG surveys (CDP, S&P Global CSA), including coordinating data inputs, drafting responses, and supporting the overall submission process.
Regulatory Compliance (15%)
Track and monitor existing and emerging state and federal ESG regulations (e.g., greenhouse gas emissions, climate-related financial risk, extended producer responsibility for packaging, etc.) to support compliance readiness.
Coordinate relevant data collection, and perform initial data transformation and analysis, and prepare submission templates.
GHG Emissions Inventory Support (10%)
As needed, support the Manager of ESG, Climate, and CSR in the collection, organization, and validation of greenhouse gas (GHG) data from internal subject matter experts (SMEs), reviewing datasets for completeness, accuracy, and alignment with internal control requirements and resolving any discrepancies with data owners.
Assist with the preparation and maintenance of Burlington’s GHG emissions inventory, including uploading datasets into the Environmental Management System
You'll Come With
- Bachelor’s degree is required. Concentrations in communications, business, sustainability or related fields preferred.
- 3–4 years of experience in corporate social responsibility (CSR), ESG reporting, sustainability communications, or related corporate communications roles.
- Demonstrated interest in and passion for corporate responsibility.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex ESG topics, data, and initiatives into clear and engaging narratives.
- Strong desire to learn and grow.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience organizing data to support reporting and communications.
- Familiarity with ESG reporting frameworks and rating organizations (MSCI, Sustainalytics, ISS, CDP, etc.) is a plus.
- Willingness to travel to attend industry conferences or training 1-3 times yearly.
Compensation Range: $60,000.00 - $75,000.00
