Description of Work
Reporting to a Correctional Housing Unit Manager II at a multi-custody female correctional facility, this position is responsible for assisting the Correctional Housing Unit Manager II in the management and operation of an institutional housing unit. Job responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:1. Implementing and monitoring the unit case management system which entails providing individual counseling, participating in group sessions, and maintaining reports relating to the offenders' progress.
2. Supervising staff and in the absence of the Correctional Unit Manager II, assuming responsibility for the overall management of the unit.
3. Serving on institutional classification committees.

Management Preferences
Documented experience with report writing.
Documented knowledge of case management practices, or supportive counseling techniques, and/or interviewing techniques for intake assessments.
Documented knowledge of Prison Policies and Procedures and/or Facility Operations.

This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits. The selected candidate may be selected to work any shift and will work weekends and holidays to ensure 24/7 staff coverage.

The salary grade for this position is NC07. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.
About Anson Correctional Institution:
Anson Correctional Institution houses female offenders in medium and close custody housing units. Anson CI offers a wide variety of educational, vocational, and training programs. Correction Enterprises operates the offender packaging operation at Anson, a partnership with Union Supply Direct through the Prison Industry Enhancement Program (PIE). Family and friends can order a package of goods from a pre-approved shopping list to send to an offender. Orders are packaged by offenders and shipped quarterly.

Minimum Education and Experience

High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma AND four years of correctional experience, one of which must have been at the supervisory level; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualifications: Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
