Reports to: Director

  • Lead the design, modeling, and experimental validation of LiDAR sensors and precision optics.
  • Optimize optical architectures using sequential and non-sequential ray-tracing tools (e.g., Zemax, LightTools, or Speos).
  • Design high-precision lenses and validate the seamless integration of optical components.
  • Develop detailed ray-tracing models for sophisticated LiDAR scanners (multi-beam, scanning mechanisms, and detectors) while assembling and aligning electro-optical setups.
  • Simulate environmental interactions to produce accurate 3D point cloud data for algorithm verification and system validation.
  • Script custom simulation tools in Python or other languages for error budgeting and performance analysis.
  • Execute experimental measurements and data acquisition to drive iterative design improvements and technical reporting.
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned.

What You Bring

  • Master’s degree with 3+ years experience or PhD in Physics, Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3 + years in automotive semiconductor or sensor industries, focused on optical system design and manufacturing.
  • Solid background in physics, optics, and applied mathematics.
  • Proven expertise in optical design, modeling, and experimental validation.
