About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Commercial Banking Portfolio Manager


In this role, you will:

  • Research complex credit investigations and diverse credit information for loans
  • Identify opportunity for process improvements within scope of responsibilities or functional area
  • Review and identify basic operational assignments that require research, evaluation, and selection of alternatives while exercising independent judgement to guide medium risk deliverables
  • Present recommendations for resolving complex situations and exercise independent judgement while developing expertise in the function, policies, procedures, and compliance requirements
  • Collaborate and consult with functional colleagues, internal partners, and stakeholders including internal as well as external customers


Required Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of Commercial Banking Portfolio Management experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education

Desired Qualifications:

  • Post‑graduate qualification in Finance, Banking, Economics, or Accounting, or equivalent (MBA, CA, CMA, or similar).
  • 2+ years of commercial credit experience across diversified asset classes.
  • Strong ability to interpret credit policies and procedures and translate them into clear, system‑enabled execution guidance for business users.
  • Demonstrated experience working with cross‑functional stakeholders to resolve issues related to credit workflows, data capture, and system navigation.
  • Proven capability to synthesize information from multiple sources (policies, procedures, borrower data, system outputs) into clear, structured responses or templates.
  • Strong stakeholder communication skills, with the ability to explain complex credit or system concepts clearly and concisely.
  • The incumbent will work directly with Commercial Banking Market Coverage and Specialized Industries nCino end-users, answering their questions about how to accomplish credit tasks most efficiently within the system and in compliance with business process and credit policies
  • Work with CB OPMT product team to identify end-user pain points and obstacles as well as provide ongoing feedback related to trends and workarounds, and suggest potential solutions
  • Serve as part of the ongoing User Acceptance Testing (UAT) group that completes extensive system testing prior to each quarterly release
  • Review line of business and product team nCino procedures and job aides prior to publication for accuracy, provide feedback regarding ease of use and understanding

Required AI Skills and Competencies:

  • Understanding and Application of AI Tools: Ability to leverage AI platforms (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, GitHub Copilot, Tachyon, Agentspace) for routine tasks such as summarizing information, drafting content, and analyzing data, while maintaining human oversight.
  • Critical Thinking: Ability to interpret AI outputs, validate insights, and make informed business decisions.
  • Responsible AI Use: Awareness of ethical considerations, data privacy, and compliance when using AI solutions.
  • Adaptability and Continuous Learning: Commitment to upskilling and staying current with emerging technologies.

Job Expectations

  • Exposure to nCino (Salesforce‑based) or similar commercial credit systems, including user enablement, process optimization, or system adoption.
  • Prior involvement in User Acceptance Testing (UAT), system releases, or change management initiatives for credit or risk platforms.
  • Strong business writing skills, especially related to credit documentation, procedures, job aids, or user guidance.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel proficiency, including data analysis and validation.
  • Experience identifying process inefficiencies, workarounds, or user pain points, and partnering with stakeholders to recommend scalable, sustainable solutions.
