Carbon Robotics is looking for a Sr. UX/UI Designer who’s not only skilled in design but is also ready to get hands-on experience in the field. You'll work closely with our engineering teams and our customers.  You’ll conduct user interviews to gather feedback to inform your designs. You’ll need a deep understanding of our agriculture users’ challenges with flexibility to adapt designs to real-world conditions. This job is in person (4 days per week) in our Seattle HQ. 

What you’ll do:

  • Conduct user research, field studies, and usability testing with growers and field operators to identify needs and pain points, integrating findings into improving our design.
  • Lead the design of both UX and UI components, delivering seamless and visually appealing interfaces across Carbon Robotics' products.
  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and other team members to create and iterate on user-centered designs.
  • Assess and make recommendations for design software and tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar) to create prototypes and final designs.
  • Travel to the field and understand user needs directly by observing and interacting with end users in their actual work environment. Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time is a must.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities for Success:

  • 6+ years of experience as a UX/UI Designer with strong proficiency using design software (Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar) to create interactive software applications with a focus on clean user-centered design.
  • Experience working in agriculture or other field-based industries, giving you insight into the unique challenges our customers face.
  • Previous design experience in robotics, IoT, or any physical products that involve field conditions, durability, and real-world functionality.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating UX/UI software design skills showing your process from user research to final designs.
