Breeze’s Powerplant Engineer is responsible for engineering activity related to aircraft APU, engine, engine systems, and related components on the Airbus and Embraer aircraft and is the primary engineering contact for issues related to engines and APU. Powerplant Engineering supports the company’s aircraft fleet by maintaining airworthiness and regulatory compliance as required by the FAA. This position requires experience with aircraft, large commercial gas turbine engines, federal regulations, development of modifications and repairs, project planning, and project management. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, engine and APU configuration management; certification approvals; airworthiness directives; data analysis; project development and implementation; oversight of engine, APU, and component reliability solutions; and engine and APU repair and overhaul. 

Here's what you'll do

  • Manage all aspects of the engine and APU maintenance and reliability programs
  • Create and manage Engine Health Monitoring (EHM) system to proactively maintain engine heath and prevent engine and component failure
  • Monitor engine in-flight performance data and recommend actions to correct abnormal trends
  • Provide and coordinate troubleshooting to resolve chronic APU and engine-related discrepancies using Trouble Shooting Manual (TSM) procedures or consulting with the manufacturer for further assistance
  • Work in conjunction with Maintenance Control and Maintenance to minimize aircraft out-of-service time and Deferred Maintenance Items (DMI’s)/MEL items
  • Support requests for technical assistance from all company departments
  • Evaluate and prioritize requests, communicate with all applicable department, and execute on plans
  • Develop technical data required for modifications, repairs, and troubleshooting of APU, engines, engine and APU systems, and related components
  • Obtain regulatory approval for modifications and repairs performed on APU, engines, engine systems, and components
  • Manage the engine Flight Hour Agreements (FHA)
  • Plan and monitor APU and engine shop visits
  • Create and manage engine overhaul cost and workscope
  • Identify spare engine requirements to support operations, contract, and maintenance requirements
  • Review engine packages to ensure work being accomplished is equal to work being requested and paid for, and verify material sources, repair-buy decisions, LLP configuration, and other cost drivers are appropriate and beneficial to the program
  • Review and take action in response to Airworthiness Directives (AD) to ensure compliance with FAA, ANAC, and other regulatory agency requirements and guidance
  • Review Service Bulletins, Service Letters, modifications, and other engineering technical documents for applicability, systems reliability, and economical benefits
  • Create engine maintenance standards, build specifications for engines, engine systems, and components
  • Develop repair plans and program changes using engine and APU performance data or reliability data and metrics
  • Prepare engineering documents such as Engineering Orders (EO) to provide technical dispositions for repairs, modifications, inspections, or other maintenance actions on aircraft engines, engine systems, and components, which provide benefits in accordance with Breeze objectives
  • Participate in budget and fiscal policy-setting discussions for engine and APU operation and maintenance
  • Represent engineering and engine maintenance at all internal and industry meetings
  • Other duties as assigned to assist Breeze in achieving its operational goals and objectives
  • Achieve performance measures and adhere to established standards in conjunction with Breeze Aviation Group Values of Safety, Kindness, Integrity, Ingenuity, and Excellence
