We’re Looking For A: The Golden Hippo Social Media team is looking for a summer intern who is looking to learn the ropes of running social media at a large company. They will learn hands-on skills like content creation on multiple platforms, influencer vetting and sourcing, data and metrics reporting and other industry standard social first-processes.

Location: Hybrid (Office in Woodland Hills, CA)

Program Dates: 

  • Start Date: June 8th 
  • End Date: August 28th

Workload: 

  • 35-39 hours/week

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Content Creation: Support the social media team with content creation for 3-5 brands. This may include shooting UGC-style video or photos at home or in-office, supporting photoshoots by building moodboards, creating graphics for promos, sales, or educational content and/or other creative content drivers.
  • Instagram Story Creation: Ideate and create Instagram stories for brands that will encourage swipe-ups to drive traffic to our website and revenue-driving engagement
  • Identifying Trends & Industry Updates: Report weekly on industry trends, relevant brands and competitors and compile a weekly report to share with the social team.
  • Content scheduling: Assist in scheduling Instagram Stories and syndicating TikTok posts.
  • Data/Metrics reporting: Assist with pulling monthly data.
  • Influencer Vetting: Vet and source influencer partners that would be beneficial for our brands using our auto sign-up platform.

Qualifications (Note: We strongly encourage you to apply even if you don’t tick ALL of these boxes.):

  • Currently in college for Communications, Public Relations or related majors
  • Basic graphic design skills (e.g., Canva, Adobe Spark).
  • Knowledge of photography and video editing (e.g., iMovie, Adobe Premiere, CapCut).
  • Familiarity with platforms like Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Twitter (X), and LinkedIn.
  • Competency in Google Suite: Excel, Docs etc
  • Ability to track and interpret basic social media analytics (e.g., engagement, reach, impressions)
  • Ability to adapt writing tone to match brand voice and audience.
  • Willingness to adapt to the evolving needs of the brand’s social media strategy.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and collaborate with the broader marketing team.
  • Creative problem-solving to create innovative and eye-catching content.
  • Familiarity with meme culture, viral content, and social media challenges.
  • Ability to identify and adapt to emerging social media trends.
  • Are local to the North LA area and willing to come into the office 2-4x a month.
