The Outsourced Chief Investment Officer (OCIO) is a part of Northern Trust’s Multi-Manager business. The role supports all aspects of investment programs for our clients including but not limited to Portfolio Construction, Manager Selection, Client reporting, Trading and monitoring. These services are provided for discretionary and advisory mandates across our three client segments – Retirement, Foundation and Endowment, and Global family office.
The role involves working closely with the Sr.CIOs in the Management and Administration of Client Investment Programs across Global Family Office and Institutional clients, providing Client Servicing support, understanding Investment objectives and developing solutions aligned to client goals. Responsible for portfolio reporting, monitoring results and reviewing Client Portfolios, with a focus on identifying issues based on a foundational understanding of client investment programs.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supports Senior staff in the development and implementation of customized investment programs tailored to client needs, objectives, and specifications
Partners with Client Investment Officers to proactively support clients through innovative thinking and thought leadership, informed by ongoing awareness of economic and investment trends relevant to client objectives and the business
Incorporates client requirements and ad hoc requests into analytical reporting, prepares economic and investment commentary, and compiles relevant market data as required
Coordinates the execution of portfolio trades, manager changes, and cash flows by partnering with manager research, portfolio construction, Custody/Trust administration teams, external custodians, and proprietary and third‑party investment managers.
Review Client portfolios and work to identify issues based on a foundational understanding of client investment programs
Coordinate with Performance teams and review client investment performance monthly and quarterly for accuracy, completeness and timeliness
Responsible to create comprehensive Oversight reports encompassing Client performance, Attribution and Risk based analysis, enabling stakeholders in driving key decisions.
Facilitate the end to end implementation of Client Investment Programs coordinating with On-boarding, Risk management and Legal to help ensure compliance with all aspects of the client relationship and investment process
Assist in research and analysis based on requests from CIOs and clients
Performs trading and rebalancing along with other critical activities with significant financial, client and/or business impact
As subject matter expert, provide comprehensive, in-depth consulting and advise to the team and other partner areas at a highly technical level backed by Industry/Business knowledge
Leads and executes complex, cross‑functional initiatives of significant scope and technical complexity, balancing high‑level operational delivery with the development and execution of the strategic direction for the business function
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Internal - 24 months as Associate
Excellent Oral and Written communication skills
Attention to Detail, commitment to deadlines, ability to multi-task is required
Business owner mindset, self-starter and the ability to act with minimum supervision is expected
Proven Analytical and Problem solving skills
Knowledge of Client servicing in Investment and Portfolio management is preferred
Extensive understanding of the asset management industry, with a demonstrated track record within the performance, research and analytics
Knowledge of Investment Performance and Risk calculation with exposure to returns based, positions based and risk analysis software is highly recommended
Strong understanding of Investment Policy Statements (IPS), Strategic Asset Allocation (SAA), and Tactical Asset Allocation (TAA)
Good Knowledge of Investments, Financial Markets and Asset Management business with a good understanding of various Asset classes and Investment styles – Equity, Fixed income, Alternatives, Multi Assets, Active and Passive Investments, DB and DC portfolios etc. is required
Advanced Knowledge in MS Excel, PowerPoint and other MS Office tools are required. VBA knowledge, Bloomberg, Factset, Morningstar and other industry tools would be an added advantage
Knowledge of commonly used Northern Trust Accounting, Trust and Performance systems like RADAR, IIP, Data Direct, Integrated reporting, etc. will be an advantage
Expected to operate independently and have in-depth Industry and Business unit knowledge
9-13 years of relevant experience, Asset Management experience preferably in the Multi-Asset business is a plus
Bachelor’s Degree is required. CFA/CAIA/CIPM is a plus
