We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Manager, Tax Business Analyst to support Gilead’s Corporate Tax function. This is a vital role in advancing Gilead's tax strategies and operations by leading the evaluation, analysis, and planning of technology, processes, and related business needs to enable more efficient tax operations and faster, more effective achievement of tax-related goals. You will collaborate with Tax subject matter experts and other business and IT partners to develop and maintain a strong understanding of both tax requirements and technology solutions. Business Analysts for Tax are instrumental in use case analysis, functional design specification, process mapping, testing, and validation of business technology solutions tailored for tax compliance, reporting, and optimization. This is a senior individual contributor role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with Tax SMEs to understand current-state processes and identify opportunities for improvement

  • Design future-state processes that are scalable, repeatable, and auditable, with a focus on operational efficiency, data integrity, and data readiness

  • Document processes and controls such that an Analyst can execute the process as well as to support internal and external audit requirements

  • Establish and enforce process, data, and documentation standards, best practices, and internal control requirements (including SOX compliance)

  • Maintain and evolve processes by assessing impact of changes in business data or tax requirements, updating requirements, process design, and documentation as needed.

  • Communicate effectively with Tax, Finance, and IT stakeholders by translating tax business requirements into clear process and data requirements, and explaining your process impacts and dependencies.

Basic Qualifications

8+ years with BS/BA

OR

6+ years with MS/MA/MBA

OR

2+ years with PhD/PharmD

Preferred Qualifications

  • Significant experience in a corporate or other relevant business environment

  • Strong working experience with data including a solid understanding of data structures, data integrity, and the ability to troubleshoot data-related problems

  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Suite including Excel, Visio, and Teams

  • Proven ability to translate business needs into technical requirements and process designs

  • Experience with SAP, OneSource, and Power Query highly preferred

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to “hear what people need” to uncover root causes

  • Demonstrated curiosity and initiative in learning about emerging technologies and applications to Tax

  • Self-starter with a passion for process improvement and ownership

  • Proven project management skills including managing and prioritizing multiple simultaneous projects

The salary range for this position is: $157,590.00 - $203,940.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package. Benefits include company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans*.
