**This position is for engineering disciplines that focus on mechanical, electrical, chemical, process, or manufacturing engineering profiles. This position DOES NOT focus on IT or Software related projects.

Position Purpose:

The Director of Product & Engineering is responsible of framing and driving strategic Product and Engineering projects to support the growth of Private Brands. The Director also leads category level New Product Development opportunities and effectively leverages his/her team to support Merchandising and Product development.


Key Responsibilities:

  • 30% Growth - Develop and grow NPD category wide solutions by effectively apply Industrial and Design engineering resources working together with Product Development Merchants
  • 20% Leadership - Coach and develop by upgrading talent, develop associates and prepare the organization for growth
  • 20% Operations - Oversee and prioritize the development of Value Engineering Costing Models, Value Add and NPD work
  • 30% Strategy - Develop, coordinate and operationalized strategies to increase Product and Engineering support to enable PB growth


Direct Manager/Direct Reports:

  • This Position typically reports to VP Product and Engineering
  • This Position has 5 Direct Reports


Travel Requirements:

  • Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.


Physical Requirements:

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.


Working Conditions:

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

  • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
