Job Description

This position provides leadership and management to the CARE (Counseling, Advocacy, Resources, and Empowerment) Center, including but not limited to student-specialized group programming, food pantry, administrative specialist, counselors, mental health therapists, social workers, student conduct officer, volunteers, and interns. Provide strategic planning, assessment, scheduling, budgeting, and continuous quality improvement. The work in this position is highly collaborative, working with academic affairs and student affairs departments.  

As part of the College’s student affairs leadership team, the director collaborates to plan, guide, and implement the college's strategic priorities. This position will work with community organizations, non-profits, and other social service entities to understand, collaborate on, and address the mental health and basic needs of college students.

Salary Range:

$34.11 - $51.28 Hourly

Minimum Qualifications

  • Three years of professional experience or a combination of years of experience and a bachelor’s degree in one of the following areas: Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related fields.

  • Professional and/or student supervision experience or proven progressive leadership experience.

  • Experience with crisis response or management.

Preferred Qualification 

  • Experience in an educational setting in K-12 or higher education

  • Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related fields, and/or Licensure in related fields

  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain working relationships with internal and external partners.

  • Ability to foster diversity, equity, and inclusion by working with diverse populations, student success initiatives, and/or basic needs.

  • Knowledge of regulations and laws pertaining to nondiscrimination, sexual or general harassment, and sexual violence.

  • Experience in the college systems, particularly two-year colleges, articulations, and collegial relationship development

  • Current knowledge of laws, trends, and practices related to student complaints and conduct investigations.

  • Experience with or familiarity with computer database formulation and record keeping.

  • Ability to conceptualize, evaluate, and implement new programming and programming enhancements.

  • Demonstrates an ongoing understanding of cultural fluency. Incorporates culturally responsive practices and actively engages in antiracism professional development learning opportunities.

  • Demonstrated experience in managing and responding to emotional and behavioral situations in a higher education or similar setting, including experience with referrals to mental health professionals, crisis intervention, and collaborating with internal and external support services to address student needs.

Work Shift

Monday - Friday

Standard hours: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Optional one day per week (Tuesday or Wednesday) 9:30 am - 6:00 pm

Telework

Option to work remotely one day per week, depending on the department's needs.
