Position Summary

The Packaging Equipment Operator position is responsible for the operation, and preventative maintenance of equipment in order to produce according to quality specifications in an efficient and safe manner. This is a 2nd shift position (2:30 pm – 11:00 pm).

Primary Responsibilities

  • Make all necessary machine adjustments to consistently produce zippered products within quality specifications at or above productivity targets; line speed, yield, uptime.
  • Ensure proper winder set-up and operation to wind products per specifications.
  • Perform efficient set-ups, changeovers, and start-ups.
  • Coordinate/communicate troubleshooting efforts with team members, supervision, quality assurance, and maintenance.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks as required.
  • Maintain appropriate levels of correct materials on the line at all times.
  • Ensure proper labeling and identification of all materials, raw, WIP, and finished goods.
  • Perform all quality checks and operate testing equipment per procedure.
  • Complete all necessary documentation in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area at all times.
  • Complete all required daily and weekly cleaning tasks per Master Cleaning Schedule procedures.
  • Understand all safety hazards and follow all safety rules and precautions.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED preferred but not required and/or minimum 6-months related machine operation experience and/or training
  • Willing to work assigned shift with some overtime including weekends
  • Must be a self-motivated, a strong team player, and able to work with minimum supervision
  • Understand all safety hazards and follow all safety rules and precautions.
  • Must be able to use polybag, blister, and hand pack items
  • Must be able to use scales, labelers, printers, tapers, dumpers, and electric pallet jack
  • Must be able to troubleshoot machine issues
  • Must have good communication skills

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee will be exposed to heat, dust, climate variances and moving mechanical equipment typically found in a distribution warehouse environment.  The noise level in the work environment is moderate.  Certain personal protective equipment is required when in the manufacturing areas. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to be present and walk through an active construction site in various weather conditions.  Be able to follow and use specific job site safety equipment and procedures.  Must be able to handle various company products such as steel products, tools, and construction chemicals while following proper safety guidelines established by the company. Ability to hear safety noises in the facility as well. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk; sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.

Hourly base salary for this position is $17.80 plus applicable shift differential of $3.00. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline.
