We are the Webex Persistence Team within the Webex Service Engineering and SRE organization. Our team is responsible for designing, building, and operating large-scale persistence services that power Webex Teams, Meetings, and the Webex Suite.

We manage highly available, distributed data platforms across both Webex Data Centers and AWS Cloud, ensuring reliability, scalability, and performance for millions of users globally. Our focus is on building intelligent, automated systems that minimize operational overhead while maximizing efficiency and resilience.

Your Impact
 

As a Senior Cloud Engineer, you will play a critical role in building and operating scalable, cloud-native database systems with a strong emphasis on Python / Java / PostgreSQL data driven automation and platform reliability.

You will work at the intersection of database engineering, backend systems, and cloud infrastructure, solving complex data challenges and driving automation at scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend systems using Java, C and Python
• Build and optimize data storage solutions using PostgreSQL and distributed databases
• Proficiency with Docker and Kubernetes for container orchestration in production environments.
• Implement infrastructure automation using Ansible
• Build and manage CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and GitHub
• Work on AI/ML-enabled features, including data pipelines and intelligent services
• Ensure system scalability, performance, and reliability across distributed environments
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, DevOps, and data engineering
• Participate in design reviews, code reviews,Code writing and architecture discussions

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 8–12 years of experience in software engineering or data platform development
• Strong programming skills in Java, C and/or Python
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases
• Strong experience with AWS cloud services (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, etc.)
• Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins and version control (GitHub)
• Experience in automation/configuration management (Ansible preferred)
• Solid understanding of distributed systems and microservices architecture
• Exposure to AI/ML concepts or platforms

Good to Have (Preferred Skills)

• Experience with Cassandra (NoSQL databases)
• Experience with OpenSearch / Elasticsearch
• Experience with streaming/data pipeline
• Experience cloud-native applications on AWS
