Job Description
The Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated senior mechanical engineer to join our dynamic team in support of critical infrastructure for our national security client. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in industrial and commercial HVAC and plumbing system design, operations, maintenance, repair, and construction work. This role is responsible for leading complex mechanical projects from conception through completion, ensuring all systems are designed, installed, and maintained to the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and compliance.
In this position, you will oversee and coordinate activities with trade shops, including prioritizing work, reviewing ongoing projects, inspecting installed equipment, and overseeing and coordinating work orders, service orders, and projects. You will plan, conduct, and direct projects or major phases of significant projects and coordinate the efforts of engineers and technical support staff, as well as manage project design or construction efforts, including scheduling, funding, and day-to-day project oversight. You’ll manage and evaluate construction contractor performance, integrate and coordinate projects with field personnel, evaluate, validate, and manage project change requests, and provide official weekly project status reports.
Additionally, you will assist the client's contracting officer (CO) and contracting officer's technical representative (COTR) with acquisition planning, execution, and administration. You will assist the CO and COTR with conducting pre-bid and pre-construction site visits with the COTR. You’ll provide invoice supporting information to the COTR for payment, prepare and monitor project schedules, assist with budgets, provide technical guidance and assistance on contracting and construction issues, direct design efforts, recommend construction documents for approval, and oversee any follow-on maintenance programs. You will also optimize performance, cost, and schedule by ensuring project objectives are achieved on schedule and at the lowest cost compatible with user requirements. You’ll ensure timely input of all data, comments, and documentation into the MAXIMO software project management tool and ensure the integration of all systems, including information technology, telephone, security, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing.
