Job Description

The Pathways and Implementation Advisor will provide hands on implementation support to ensure optimal implementation of ViiV’s therapeutic long-acting injectable (LAI) portfolio and advocacy objectives. Advanced communication skills and the ability to engage with key external stakeholders including healthcare professionals is vital. As part of the field medical team, you will partner with multidisciplinary healthcare professionals to deliver non‑promotional medical education and lead service optimisation and pathway implementation to support safe, effective and equitable delivery of ViiV’s long‑acting HIV treatments and prevention options. You will provide cross functional matrix support for medical and commercial colleagues to deliver the business plan. A key focus will be supporting the UK long-acting powerhouse strategy, ensuring medical alignment with commercial objectives and driving sustainable partnerships that improve outcomes for people living with HIV and those who may benefit from PrEP.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist healthcare professionals and their associated clinics with mapping current LAI patient pathways across services, identify bottlenecks and support care providers to implement innovation via:
    • Co-design LAI delivery models and pilot and evaluate new care models ensuring scalability and sustainability
    • Conduct capacity modelling to determine issues and solutions
    • Support services with SOPs, governance pathways and clinical protocols
    • Lead site readiness assessments and facilitate go live planning
    • Facilitate service optimisation workshops bringing together nurses, pharmacists and consultants as a full MDT delivering HIV treatment and prevention care
  • Deliver scientific advice:
    • Work closely with ViiV’s cross-functional team such as the medical scientific liaisons or nurse advisor to provide scientific education training to HCPs to support the safe and effective use of our medicines both in the treatment and prevention space.
    • Support to create and then deliver expert speaker content at scientific events, regional and local meetings to disseminate information, accelerate adoption and improve confidence in LAIs.
  • Work cross-functionally:
  • Gather operational and clinical insights with cross-functional colleagues to inform medical, commercial and market access insights into patient pathways accessing LAI
  • Partner with matrix colleagues (e.g. sales, marketing, market access, etc.) to ensure strategies and business plans are appropriate and adding value to people who could benefit from PrEP or are living with HIV.
  • Attending scientific meetings and congresses to keep abreast of the evolving science in HIV and to partner with key stakeholders at congress identifying opportunity to support implementation of LAI.
  • Partner with patient advisory groups:
    • Build and sustain trusted partnerships with patient advocacy groups, community organisations and national HIV charities
    • Engage with advocacy partners to support equitable access to treatment and prevention, including LAI pathways
  • Fully understand and comply with ViiV standards and policies and with local codes of practice, guidelines and laws to ensure the strictest requirements are met.

Basic Qualification

We are seeking professionals with the following required skills and qualifications to help us achieve our goals:

  • Registered healthcare professional (Medic or Pharmacist)
  • Degree in life sciences or equivalent; advanced scientific qualification preferred.
  • In-depth understanding of UK NHS healthcare systems, and HIV therapy landscape.
  • Deep understanding of operational, clinical and governance requirements. Preference for understanding of the ABPI code
  • Experience of taking services through quality improvement, service redesign and patient pathway mapping
  • Experience in analysing, redesigning and embedding new models of care to support scalable and sustainable service improvement
  • Experience in designing and delivering clinical education and training to peers and healthcare professionals
  • Excellent engagement and communication skills and ability to tailor information to different audiences appropriately.
  • Effective networking, project management and collaboration skills to achieve business objectives.
  • Experience in implementing digital solutions to improve patient pathways and drive service redesign
  • Strong business mindset and ability to balance cross-functional objectives.
  • Ability to prioritise, meet tight deadlines and work independently.
  • ABPI medical signatory status or eligibility for signatory accreditation
