The role is based onsite. Be part of a detail‑oriented, accurate, and collaborative team where together we deliver high‑quality scientific data that supports responsible product development. Your potential is our inspiration.

Our department plays a key role within IFF by ensuring operational excellence in routine biodegradability testing. We generate high‑quality, reliable data to support internal and external stakeholders and contribute to the evaluation of the environmental fate of IFF products.

As a Biodegradation Intern, you will be closely involved in the daily execution of biodegradability studies. The internship offers a well‑rounded learning experience combining hands‑on laboratory work with analytical and data‑handling activities, ideal for students interested in environmental sciences, biotechnology, or analytical chemistry.

  • Accurately document experimental work, results, and observations in line with Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) principles
  • Assist with analytical tasks related to biodegradability assessments of test substances
  • Support method development activities, contributing to the refinement or development of new analytical approaches
  • Process, organize, and maintain data to ensure accuracy, traceability, and usability
  • Contribute to general laboratory operations, including dishwashing, housekeeping, and application of 5S organizational principles
  • Perform basic equipment calibrations such as pH meters, pipettes, and balances

What Makes You the Right Fit

  • Enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in environmental sciences, biotechnology, analytical chemistry, or a related field
  • Basic laboratory skills, including pipetting, weighing, and following standard laboratory procedures
  • Familiarity with laboratory safety practices and willingness to actively apply them
  • Interest in biodegradability testing and environmental fate assessment of chemical substances
  • Ability to work accurately and consistently in a laboratory environment
  • Comfort with basic analytical data handling and documentation
  • Willingness to learn new laboratory and analytical techniques
  • A proactive and responsible approach to supporting daily laboratory operations

How Would You Stand Out?

  • Previous hands‑on laboratory experience through coursework, projects, or internships
  • Interest in method development or analytical chemistry techniques
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

Why Choose Us?

  • Hands‑on experience in an industrial research laboratory environment
  • Exposure to real‑world biodegradability testing supporting responsible product development
  • Opportunity to develop both experimental and analytical skills
  • Supportive and collaborative team environment
  • Valuable learning experience within IFF’s Research, Creation & Design activities
