Job Description

The Strategic Operations Director, BOS Operations at Business Operations Support (BOS) serves as a strategic partner to the executive leadership team, driving operational excellence, cross-functional coordination, operational efficiency, standardization, and strategic execution. This role ensures alignment across departments such as HR, Finance, IT, and Procurement, and acts as a central point of contact for internal stakeholders and external partners. The Strategic Operations Director will lead strategic initiatives within the BOS supporting a fast-paced automotive retail business. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in project management, stakeholder engagement, and change leadership.

Organizational Relationships:

The Director – Strategic Operations is a member of the Business Operations Support Center reporting to the Vice President - BOS and will collaborate closely with field operations and various corporate departments. 

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Strategic Execution: Lead and monitor key initiatives across the BOS to ensure timely delivery and alignment with organizational goals.
  • Executive Support: Serve as a trusted advisor to the VP-BOS, managing priorities, preparing briefings, and representing leadership in meetings.
  • Operational Oversight: Coordinate daily operations, streamline workflows, and identify opportunities for process improvement. Manage resource demand, budget, and timelines, escalate issues, and communicate risks and impact to cope, budget, and resources. Monitor project performance using appropriate tools and techniques; effectively manage key project milestones and report on progress, issues, and solutions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Facilitate communication and collaboration between service lines to enhance integration and efficiency.
  • Performance Management: Develop KPIs and dashboards to track service delivery, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Project Leadership: Oversee special projects and lead end-to-end project management, including technology implementations, organizational change efforts, and compliance initiatives. Define project scope, goals, deliverables, timelines, and resource requirements
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with business units, vendors, and external partners to ensure service alignment and responsiveness.
  • Governance & Reporting: Prepare executive reports, manage governance calendars, and ensure compliance with internal policies.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Operations, or related field (Master’s or MBA preferred).
  • 7+ years in shared services, operations, executive support roles, or project management experience (at least 3 years in a shared services or corporate services environment preferred).
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex projects
  • Experienced in collaborating with Executive Leadership and Senior Management.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with ERP systems and shared services platforms.
  • Experience leading technology implementations.
  • Change management and stakeholder engagement expertise
  • Ability to navigate matrixed organizations and influence without authority
  • Proven track record of delivering complex, multi-stakeholder projects on time and within budget.
  • Strong understanding of shared services models and process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma).
  • Automotive retail or multi-location retail experience is a strong plus.
