Job Description

About Gartner IT:

Join a world-class team of skilled engineers who build creative digital solutions to support our colleagues and clients.  We make a broad organizational impact by delivering cutting-edge technology solutions that power Gartner.  Gartner IT values its culture of nonstop innovation, an outcome-driven approach to success, and the notion that great ideas can come from anyone on the team.

About the Role:

As a key member of our team, you will drive the design, architecture, and delivery of robust, scalable, and secure cloud infrastructure—primarily on AWS. You will play a critical role in shaping our cloud strategy, enabling business units to deploy solutions efficiently, and championing best practices for automation, security, and operational excellence. We’re looking for a hands-on engineer who combines deep infrastructure expertise with a passion for mentoring others, influencing architectural decisions, and exploring emerging technologies to continuously improve our platform and deliver impactful results for the organization.

The Team:

You’ll join Cloud Center of Excellence (CCOE), a group of expert contributors dedicated to automating and optimizing IT infrastructure and DevOps processes. Our team leverages public cloud platforms and open-source technologies to enhance self-service capabilities and drive operational efficiency. We foster a collaborative culture built on deep technical expertise, shared knowledge, and a unified strategy. Together, we champion leadership, innovation, and timely delivery—always focused on articulating and delivering clear business value.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead the design, architecture, implementation, and management of scalable, secure AWS cloud infrastructure to deliver highly available, resilient solutions aligned with business objectives and enable efficient deployment for business units.
  • Champion Infrastructure as Code (IaC) development and maintenance using tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation, automating provisioning and lifecycle management.
  • Design, build, and optimize CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, Git, Docker, and related technologies to streamline deployment and improve quality.
  • Architect and enforce role-based access control, including AWS IAM policies, to ensure secure and compliant access to cloud resources.
  • Oversee and optimize cloud networking, compute, storage, and security services for performance, availability, and cost efficiency.
  • Provide technical leadership and hands-on support for multi-cloud initiatives across AWS, GCP, and Azure, ensuring consistency and best practices.
  • Develop and enhance self-service capabilities and automation tools, empowering internal teams to access and manage cloud services independently.
  • Implement and support frameworks for security, performance monitoring, observability, and resiliency to ensure operational excellence.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to gather requirements, influence architectural decisions, and drive impactful results.
  • Mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and continuous learning within the team.
  • Maintain clear, comprehensive documentation, runbooks, operational standards, and infrastructure diagrams to support effective knowledge sharing and operational continuity.
  • Participate in rotational on-call support and incident management to ensure the reliability and availability of cloud infrastructure.

What You’ll Need:

  • 4-6 years of experience in software or infrastructure engineering, with at least 4 years focused on AWS cloud, automation, and orchestration.
  • Deep expertise in AWS infrastructure services (EC2, Auto Scaling, ELB, VPC, S3, IAM, RDS, Lambda, SSM, Config, Route53, CloudWatch, EKS/ECS, etc.)
  • Proven ability to design and manage role-based access control and AWS IAM policies.
  • Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Experience building automation pipelines using CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Git, Docker).
  • Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible and AWS SSM.
  • Solid understanding of cloud networking, compute, storage, security, and containerization (Kubernetes).
  • Experience integrating AWS solutions with other cloud service providers (GCP, Azure) in multi-cloud environments.
  • Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools (CloudTrail, CloudWatch, Dynatrace, Prometheus, etc.).
  • Strong scripting/coding skills (Python, Bash, PowerShell).
  • Solid experience with Linux, Unix, and Windows operating systems.
  • Exceptional analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders and drive results.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and deliver in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science or a related field required.

Who You Are:

  • Driven by automation—always seeking to eliminate manual, repeatable work and build secure, scalable solutions.
  • Passionate about open-source technologies, continuous learning, and innovation.
  • A collaborative team player, comfortable working with distributed global teams.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and adept at navigating ambiguity and change.
  • Resourceful problem solver who thrives in dynamic environments.
  • Open to feedback and committed to continuous improvement.
  • Influential communicator, able to bridge IT and business perspectives effectively.
