Job Description

Position Overview

The Merchandise Process Analyst (MPA) is responsible for minimizing order processing costs to maximize profit. This is done by driving operational efficiencies, being the order process liaison, streamlining supply chain activities, building collaborative relationships and modeling leadership behavior.

A Day in the Life

Business Acumen 

  • Proactively generates ideas, insights, and solutions to address anticipated issues. 

  • Seeks opportunities to build business knowledge. 

  • Identifies and quantifies business benefits of proposed solutions, and tracks benefits after implementation. 

  • Demonstrates a “can-do” spirit and propensity for creative solution-based results. 

 

Analysis 

  • Proactively generates ideas, insights, and technology solutions to address anticipated issues to achieve desired ROI. 

  • Through analysis identifies opportunities to improve and streamline merchandising practices, determines actions needed to address, and provides recommendations for execution. 

  • Demonstrates critical thinking and analytical rigor and validates work for accuracy. 

  • Influence order writing decisions by collaborating with vendors, buyers, planners and supply chain to minimize DC processing time and handling costs. 

 

Relationship Management 

  • Develop strong working relationships with Merchants, Supply Chain and Merchandising Operations teams. 

  • Build an executive presence through the presentation of recommendations to merchants and their leadership. 

  • Improve vendor experience through solution focused collaboration with merchants and vendors to resolve order challenges. 

  • Maintain a reputation of credibility and responsiveness to others. 

  • Influences and persuades others to drive partners to consensus. 

  • Resolves challenges in a proactive and decisive manner and sets high standards for self and others. 

  • Collaborate with Imports, Supply Chain, Vendor Relations, Planning, Allocations and Merchants to identify opportunities to streamline order process and improve speed to store. 

  • Models Core Values in everyday interactions. 

  • Encourages and participates in team activities which helps support an inclusive environment. 

 

Education and Process Management 

  • Develop SOPs and deliver best practices for order writing. 

  • Identifies and determines training approach, coaching in the moment, providing eLearning options, one on one touch base coaching sessions, Merchandising Operational Guide, facilitated group training 

  • Develops training curriculum and materials for onboarding classes, refreshers, and new process launches. 

  • Delivers training materials related to merchandising operations and is viewed as the first point of contact for resolving issues and answering questions. 

  • Adapt training approach based on client’s learning and communication style. 

  • Identify training tools and technology that enhance the learning experience, improve engagement, accelerate learning, and provide on demand access. 

  • Facilitate communication between merchants, IT, and other cross functional teams to develop efficient, seamless solutions for order management to reduce merchant workload. 

  • Drives change management to influence company objectives, and models leadership behaviors. 

You'll Come With

Education: 

  • 4-year College degree or equivalent work experience 

 

Licenses/Certification/Registration:  

 

Experience: 

  • 2-3 years of experience in merchandising preferred 

  • Off-price retail experience preferred 

  • Experience with Merchandise systems is preferred 

 

Skills and Abilities:   

  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)  

  • Strong analytical skills 

  • Excellent organization skills and detail-orientation with the ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time  

  • Ability to manage through conflict and problem resolution 

  • Strong computer skills with a thorough knowledge base of Microsoft Excel 

  • Ability to identify and apply systems solutions to business problems 

  • Ability to work independently 

  • Ability to adapt to changes 

Periodic travel including but not limited to market, vendors, corporate offices (NY, NJ, CA) and DC locations (NJ, CA, GA).
