Position Purpose:

The Utility/Government Rebate Senior Manager is responsible for the development and management of all government and/or utility-sponsored residential and commercial consumer rebate programs for The Home Depot. The Senior Manager is responsible for creating a centralized process to bring simplicity and efficiencies for utilities seeking to construct a consumer rebate program with The Home Depot. Through coordination with Merchandising and Store Operations teams, the position will drive incremental sales growth opportunities in energy efficient, and water conservation products. The Utility/ Government Rebate Senior Manager will serve as a primary point of contact for all utilities and government agencies. Manage the creation and implementation of processes and procedures to drive consistency and maximize effectiveness throughout the organization. Identify and investigate industry "best practices" and implement improvements as appropriate.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with suppliers to develop and negotiate new and existing rebate programs with utilities and / or government agencies
  • Manage rebate reimbursement and allocation process to ensure maximum credit is received. Will require coordination with utilities, government agencies and internal THD departments.
  • Provide reporting and analysis on program activity, sales trending and projections and rebate status.
  • Coordinate consumer messaging with internal functional teams (i.e. marketing, in-store environment) and utility companies.
  • Manage content and messaging on rebate information for homedepot.com and eco options websites. Partner with on-line team to optimize placements on search options.
  • Train field teams and SSC departments on rebate opportunities and reimbursement process.


Direct Manager/Direct Reports:

  • This position reports to Director Social Environmental Responsibility.
  • This position has 1 direct report.


Travel Requirements:

  • Typically requires overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.


Physical Requirements:

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.


Working Conditions:

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.
  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, government relations, or public policy
  • Previous retail or merchandising experience
  • Previous experience with environmental or government programs in consumer products industry
  • Proven ability working on cross functional projects
  • Strong knowledge of utility and government rebate programs in the U.S.


Minimum Education:

  • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
