Staff Software Engineer / Architect (Python/Golang Full Stack, Distributed / Scale)

Why this role matters:

We are seeking a Staff Engineer / Staff Architect to provide end-to-end technical leadership across our Jumper AI / Conversational Commerce platform. This role spans backend systems, frontend architecture, cloud infrastructure, and platform design, with responsibility for guiding teams building Journey Builders, event-driven orchestration engines, commerce and payment platforms, and multi-channel messaging systems.

You will operate at the architecture and system design layer, working across multiple teams and domains rather than owning a single feature. The role requires deep technical judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to balance product velocity with long-term platform health.

Your key responsibilities:

• Define and evolve platform architecture across backend, frontend, and cloud infrastructure.
• Lead architectural design for complex systems, including workflow orchestration engines, Journey Builders, commerce, and messaging platforms.
• Establish architectural principles, patterns, and standards that scale across teams and products.
• Provide technical leadership for distributed, event-driven backend systems with strong reliability guarantees.
• Guide frontend architecture for complex, high-scale products, ensuring performance, consistency, and usability.
• Drive cloud-native design on Google Cloud Platform with a focus on scalability, resilience, and operational excellence.
• Act as a trusted technical advisor, mentoring senior engineers and influencing cross-team technical decisions.

What you'll bring

• 12+ years of experience building and operating large-scale, production-grade software systems.
• Deep expertise in distributed systems, microservices architecture, and event-driven platforms.
• Strong hands-on background in backend system design using Python or similar ecosystems.
• Proven experience designing workflow engines, routing systems, or stateful execution platforms.
• Solid understanding of frontend architecture principles and performance considerations for complex UIs.
• Strong cloud architecture experience, preferably on Google Cloud Platform.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and influence decisions across engineering, product, and leadership teams.

Experience we consider a plus:

• Prior experience as a Staff Engineer, Principal Engineer, or Platform Architect.
• Experience defining internal platform standards adopted by multiple teams.
• Exposure to SRE practices such as SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets.
• Experience working on revenue-critical, high-traffic, or regulated systems.
