This position is accountable for conducting complex reconciliation processes in alignment with established standards, thereby protecting the integrity of Sun Life Financial Inc.'s records. On a monthly basis, the role involves analyzing and reconciling assets, liabilities, and other comprehensive accounts (OCI), and preparing reconciliation reports to highlight control issues and ensure the production of accurate and reliable financial statements.

Preferred Skills

Technical Skills:

• With basic understanding of audit requirements and system controls;
• Basic knowledge of GAAP (Canadian, US, Philippines), local tax rules and regulations, and internal control requirements;
• Preferably with orientation and comprehensive knowledge SAP;
• Good business sense on life insurance and wealth management practices;
• With experience and knowledge in several, if not all, general functions within Finance (Cash Management, Banking, Portfolio Management, Agency Payroll, Budgeting, Financial Reporting, and Financial Analysis, etc.);
• Must have strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other reporting tools

Leadership Skills:

• Confident team player with strong interpersonal skills who can work across multiple functions to achieve goals;
• Must be able to work well under pressure and can manage multiple projects at a time;
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills

Qualifications

• Education - Graduate of any 4 year course - University degree in Accountancy or any Business related course
• Desirable : Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or CPA candidate; Life insurance industry qualifications such as FLMI
• Work Experience - cumulative years of experience : 2-3 years’ experience in General Accounting or 1 year minimum experience in Accounts Reconciliation

Responsibilities

• Conducting thorough investigation and analysis of balance sheet accounts to verify that account balances are accurately presented.
• Identifying control issues and areas of improvement within the reconciliation function and other business units.
• Supplying management with accurate financial reports as required by internal or external auditors and the Insurance Commission.
• Diligently monitoring accounts with long outstanding reconciling items and coordinating meetings with relevant business units to discuss and implement timely corrective actions for issue resolution.
• Engaging in ongoing process improvements by participating in the adoption of new technologies, special projects, and various company or departmental initiatives.
