The Competitive Intelligence and Market Insights department contributes to that mission by leveraging deep competitor, industry, and customer knowledge to develop actionable insights that serve as a key input to strategic decision making at Caterpillar. As a Competitive Intelligence Sr. Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team supporting Caterpillar’s Power & Energy business unit with competitive intelligence and market insights.
What You Will Do:
- Develop and deliver integrated competitive intelligence and market insight analyses to business partners (senior leadership, business divisions, cross‑functional teams, etc.) to support strategic planning and execution.
- Consult for business partners to assess global and regional competitive positions and identify implications, risks, and strategic alternatives to gain/maintain industry leadership.
- Build and maintain a broad network for obtaining and disseminating competitive intelligence.
What You Have:
- Business Analysis: Demonstrates strong analytical rigor and persistence to identify reliable data, distinguish true market trends from assumptions, apply deep understanding of Caterpillar’s products and industries, uphold Caterpillar’s Code of Conduct in intelligence gathering, and continuously improve through new technologies and processes.
- Financial Analysis: Analyzes and interprets financial statements with proficiency using both qualitative and quantitative tools to assess and understand investment decisions.
- Competitive Environment: Builds and leverages a broad, diverse intelligence network to inform analysis and adeptly applies a holistic view of the competitive landscape—including traditional and emerging competitors, market economics, customers, and broader environmental, legal, political, social, and technological factors—in building insights.
- Market Research: Designs and executes targeted market research in collaboration with subject matter experts and translates insights into strategic recommendations for senior leadership.
- Effective Communications: Communicates effectively across all levels by distilling complex analysis into clear, audience‑appropriate narratives and persuasively advocates for ideas or positions when needed.
- Interpersonal Relationships: Builds strong relationships with internal stakeholders to stay informed across the business, influences and earns the respect of key individuals inside and outside the organization, and contributes effectively as a collaborative team member.
What Will Set You Apart:
- Engineering, business, accounting, or similar degree (preferably complemented by an MBA or equivalent) and 6+ years of relevant experience.
- Extensive knowledge of Caterpillar’s Power & Energy products and end-markets.
- Experience supporting executive-level business partners with strategy development.

Summary Pay Range:
$159,120.00 - $238,680.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
