Job Description

About the Role

We’re looking for a senior Business Communications Lead for APAC to define and deliver how OpenAI shows up with the people and businesses building on AI to turn capability into real-world progress - spanning enterprises, startups, and developers.

Reporting to the Head of Communications for APAC, this role owns the regional B2B communications strategy and execution, supporting growth, trust, and long-term adoption of OpenAI’s technology. You’ll shape how OpenAI is understood by business leaders, customers, developers, partners, and the media, while navigating a complex, fast-moving global and regional environment.

This is a builder role for someone equally comfortable setting strategy and executing across multiple markets. You’ll partner closely with global teams and local communications leaders to deliver impact on the ground.

What you do:

  • Set and execute the APAC B2B communications strategy, aligned with regional GTM priorities and global narratives

  • Partner closely with go-to-market leaders, XFN partners and local comms leads to support growth, deal momentum, and strategic accounts

  • Develop clear, credible umbrella and vertical-specific narratives and strategies around AI adoption, business transformation, productivity, and trust - and advertising.

  • Lead earned strategy for B2B audiences, including business, trade, and vertical press, as well as relevant business influencers

  • Tell customer and partner stories that demonstrate real-world impact across priority APAC markets.

  • Shape and deliver executive thought leadership programmes, including defining narratives, securing speaking opportunities, media engagement, roundtables, and proprietary events

  • Partner cross-functionally to align campaigns, content, and events with communications goals and sales priorities

  • Play a key role in defining owned and operated enterprise moments across APAC, including major industry events, executive dinners, and regional forums

  • Act as the regional bridge between global teams and local comms leaders, localising global launches and feeding APAC insight back into central strategy

What you bring:

  • 12+ years’ experience in b2b or technology communications

  • Strong understanding of enterprise sales motions and how communications influences pipeline, trust, and adoption

  • Deep earned media experience with strong relationships across business, corporate, and technology media

  • Proven experience partnering closely with sales, marketing, legal, policy, and product teams

  • Experience operating at exec level and advising leaders in high-stakes, ambiguous environments

  • Ability to flex confidently across corporate, product, GTM, and policy topics with sound judgement

  • Experience working in international or regional roles within global companies and complex operating environments

  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to translate complex technology into clear business value

  • Comfortable working at pace on high-profile issues under tight deadlines

  • Experience managing agency partners and building small, effective teams

  • Bonus: familiarity with AI, enterprise software, or emerging technologies

You’ll thrive in this role if

  • You like building from scratch and shaping how a company shows up with business audiences

  • You have a creative, audience-first mindset and go beyond traditional b2b comms and media relations

  • You care as much about credibility and trust as you do about growth

  • You’re a communicator who is commercially minded and sales-aware

  • You’re comfortable navigating complexity, scrutiny, and fast change

  • You want to work in a small, senior team where autonomy and judgement really matter
