Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRTs) provide evidence-based clinical care to some of the most critically ill patients in the United States. Caring for adult, pediatric and/or neonatal patient populations, Registered Respiratory Therapists evaluate, treat and care for patients with a wide range of lung diseases and respiratory disorders, such as asthma, bronchitis, cystic fibrosis, emphysema, COPD and lung cancer. By joining our team as an RRT, you will enjoy day-to-day interactions with patients, allowing you to advance your skills, hands-on, and potentially move into leadership roles down the line.
A caregiver in this position works evenings from 3:00PM – 11:30PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide assessment, treatment, care and evaluation to patients with respiratory insufficiencies.
Direct respiratory caregivers for delivery of care.
Implement and monitor patient care plans.
Assess patients for the appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develop, implement and monitor patient care plans.
Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions.
Perform advanced respiratory care modalities, evaluate respiratory practice, administer medications and treatments and perform blood gas puncture and analysis.
Educate patients and families about the illness and provide information about community support groups and other programs.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care
Ohio Respiratory Care Professional (RCP) Board Licensure
Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) through the American Heart Association (AHA) and/or Neonatal Pediatric Specialist (NPS) Certification when appropriate for site
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Prior experience in Critical Care and/or performing invasive procedures
Neonatal/pediatric experience when appropriate for site
Bachelor’s Degree
Physical Requirements:
Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
Normal hearing and vision or corrected to normal range.
May require sitting, standing and walking for extended periods of time.
Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
