Our global Clinical Research team, who powers our PPD® clinical research portfolio, are part of our leading global contract research organization (CRO). We provide comprehensive, integrated drug development, laboratory and lifecycle management services. Our customers include pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, academic and government organizations.
This Senior HR Director, Business Partner role is dedicated to two of our therapeutic business units within the Clinical Development Services division (CDSD); Internal Medicine & Respiratory, Infectious Diseases and Vaccines, with revenue of approximately $2B and teams of over 1,600 global colleagues that are enthusiastic about the work they do and the impact they have on patients and medicines.

You will partner with senior business leaders and their teams to provide forward-thinking HR strategic partnerships, including coaching, organizational design, change management and translation of business priorities into impactful people strategies. With the expertise to build organizational capabilities and innovative HR solutions, you will advance our goals of hiring, engaging, and developing top industry talent.
This creative and solutions-oriented Senior Human Resources Director will have a team of HR business partners to support additional global Clinical Operations leaders; developing and mentoring these HR business partners will be a critical part of the role.
What will you do?
Talent Mindset
Promote forward-thinking HR strategies and talent management plans which align with our business goals of attracting, retaining and developing diverse, engaged talent. Provide leadership coaching, performance management support and high potential identification to create top performance teams.
Business Acumen and Data Insight
Use HR analytics to improve talent and business capabilities and influence positive culture change. Build a solid understanding of industry, market, and functional trends to craft business-specific talent strategies driven by data insights.
Consultation
Facilitate and support evolving organizational needs to drive effectiveness through talent, capabilities and culture. Acts as a catalyst for change; guides and directs organizational design, development and change management solutions.
Change Leadership
Promote change by leading organizational design, development, and culture initiatives built upon our 4i values (Integrity, Intensity, Innovation, and Involvement). Provide creative solutions to complex global business challenges by combining unique ideas, technologies, and approaches.
Organizational Adaptability and Resolve
Establish a solid organizational network that promotes a "One HR Team" approach in which activities are core, common, and consistent. Consult with our Centers of Excellence (COE’s) in Talent Management, Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition, HR Shared Services and Analytics & Diversity to achieve successful program objectives.
People Management
Develop team of HR Business Partners by providing coaching, mentorship, employee engagement and work direction. Conducts performance appraisals and career discussions, facilitates employee career development.
How will you get here?
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Psychology, or related field required. Advanced degree preferred.
Experience:
- Previous HR experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 12+ years’ experience). HR experience should include demonstrated leadership and management skills; 4+ years in strategic business partner role supporting senior leaders and executives with financial (P&L) responsibility. Experience in services environment and with billable talent preferred.
- Demonstrated success in implementing organizational design initiatives, business and change programs and processes that yield positive results.
- Experience influencing global teams in a fast-paced, heavily matrixed, and diverse environment.
- Exposure to process improvement approaches and ability to implement.
- Strong consultative style with proven ability to influence and lead others.
- Experience and strength leveraging financial acumen and insights and data to drive strategic consultation.
- In some cases, an equivalency, consisting of appropriate education, training, and/or directly related experience will be considered sufficient for an individual to meet the requirements of the role.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Knowledge of contemporary practices in the administration of HR policies.
- Critical thinking and analytical skills with in-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Project management, communication, and presentation skills.
- Consultation skills with the ability to influence leaders at all levels.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and act with tact and emotional intelligence.
- Skilled in developing professional relationships with leadership, direct reports, and peers and ability to influence effectively.
- Ability to travel up to 30% of time.

The annual salary range estimated for this position is North Carolina is $175,000 - $265,000 USD. This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
