As a Field Service Engineer [Customer Engineer] at Applied Materials, you serve as the direct liaison with customers, collaborating closely to install, maintain, and upgrade equipment. You'll use digital analytics for troubleshooting and apply basic diagnostic techniques to assess and address technical issues. Your responsibilities include performing preventative and corrective maintenance on various systems such as electrical, vacuum, mechanical, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems. Additionally, you'll coordinate and communicate directly with customers to ensure smooth operations and exceptional service.

 

 

We are expanding our Field Service Engineering team in Ireland and are actively seeking engineers based in Finland who are interested in relocating to Ireland.

Due to business growth, we are looking beyond the Irish market and offering a strong international opportunity for technically minded engineers who want hands‑on experience with advanced manufacturing equipment, structured training, and long‑term career progression within a global technology company.

What You’ll Do 

As a Field Service Engineer, you will work directly with our customer on‑site in Ireland, ensuring the reliable operation of highly advanced equipment. You’ll be supported by experienced Senior Engineers and extensive training while building deep technical expertise.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting installation, maintenance, and upgrades of customer equipment
  • Using digital analytics tools to assist with troubleshooting and problem-solving
  • Performing preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical, mechanical, vacuum, plasma, hydraulic, and gas systems (full training provided)
  • Learning to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics
  • Communicating directly with customers in a professional, service‑oriented manner
  • Working closely with international engineering and support teams

Minimum Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field
    (e.g. Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Automation, Electronics, Physics)
  • Good mechanical aptitude and interest in hands‑on technical work
  • Willingness to learn complex industrial equipment
  • Experience solving technical problems
  • Good communication skills in English
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • 1–2 years’ experience in maintenance, service, manufacturing, or technical support
  • Exposure to pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, vacuum systems, or thermodynamics
  • Familiarity with hand tools and measurement equipment (e.g. multimeters)
  • Background in industrial, automation, energy, or manufacturing environments
