About the Role
Ciena is seeking an accomplished and strategic Director of Regional Operations to lead and optimize end‑to‑end supply chain operations for our Thailand manufacturing footprint. This role plays a critical part in enabling global supply chain performance within a matrixed operating model, partnering across regions and functions to deliver operational excellence, resilience, and scale in support of Ciena’s business priorities.
How you will make an impact:
- Define and execute a Thailand supply chain strategy aligned to Ciena’s global objectives, driving efficiency, cost optimization, and operational resilience
- Lead procurement, inventory, logistics, warehousing, and distribution activities to achieve best‑in‑class operational performance
- Use data analytics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify continuous improvement opportunities and drive operational innovation
- Champion the deployment and adoption of advanced supply chain systems to enhance visibility, control, and decision‑making
- Build and sustain strategic supplier partnerships, leading contract negotiations to maximize value, quality, and risk mitigation
- Partner closely with manufacturing, engineering, quality, and global operations teams to ensure seamless execution across the value chain
- Represent Ciena by hosting executive leaders and customers at the Thailand manufacturing site, demonstrating operational excellence
The must haves:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field
- 10+ years of experience leading electronics manufacturing supply chains at scale
- Fluency in English and Thai, with the ability to operate effectively in a global, matrixed environment
- Deep expertise across procurement, logistics, inventory management, and supplier relationship management
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a track record of data‑driven decision‑making
- Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
- Ability to work on‑site in Thailand a minimum of 80% of the time, with domestic and international travel as required to support global stakeholders and suppliers
Nice to haves:
- Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or equivalent advanced degree
- Professional certifications such as APICS, Certified in Planning and Inventory Management (CPIM), Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS), or Project Management Professional (PMP)
- Experience supporting telecom or other high‑reliability manufacturing environments
