Baker Hughes is seeking a skilled System Engineer to join our team in Stord, Norway. Our Stord facility is a global Center of Excellence for IWOCS (Intervention Workover Control Systems) and production HPUs, delivering advanced control systems and support equipment to the oil and gas industry worldwide.

As a System Engineer it’s expected that you will provide technical guidance and development/deployment of IWOCS deliveries to the project, and you are responsible for creating required system documentation and drawings. You will work closely with the Project Engineering Manager (PEM) and other system engineers, and you will report to the PEM on the project you are assigned to and to engineering management. 

As a System Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Conducting system design reviews in accordance with Baker Hughes’ engineering process, including full review and understanding of technical scope, requirements, and specifications.
  • Preparing system documentation for IWOCS.
  • Establishing the technical requirement specification matrix for the project.
  • Owning system engineering design file, FMEA, HAZID, HAZOP, LOPA, and other processes/analyses.
  • Managing technical queries and interfaces between IWOCS and other product lines in Baker Hughes.
  • Providing input to and preparing for rig survey, and reviewing positioning of IWOCS equipment and deck layout on rig.
  • Delivering technical and lifecycle support for systems such as:
    • IWOCS (Intervention Workover Control Systems)
    • Production Hydraulic Power Units (HPU)
    • Reeler systems
    • Test & Flush HPU units
  • Ensuring designs comply with requirements for hazardous area equipment (Ex) according to ATEX and IECEx standards.
  • Supporting projects from concept and design through manufacturing, testing, and commissioning.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Preferred to have Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering. Other relevant experience can compensate for lacking formal education.
  • Have experience with workover control systems or production HPU designs.
  • Have experience and knowledge of relevant oil and gas industry standards such as API, ISO, NORSOK, IEC and EN standards.
  • Have experience and knowledge of hazardous area equipment (Ex) and relevant standards (ATEX / IECEx).
  • Be familiar with AutoCAD is considered an advantage.
  • Have experience with Teamcenter or similar document management systems.
  • Be fluent in English.
