Job Description

About Us

At Cloudflare, we are on a mission to help build a better Internet. Today the company runs one of the world’s largest networks that powers millions of websites and other Internet properties for customers ranging from individual bloggers to SMBs to Fortune 500 companies. Cloudflare protects and accelerates any Internet application online without adding hardware, installing software, or changing a line of code. Internet properties powered by Cloudflare all have web traffic routed through its intelligent global network, which gets smarter with every request. As a result, they see significant improvement in performance and a decrease in spam and other attacks. Cloudflare was named to Entrepreneur Magazine’s Top Company Cultures list and ranked among the World’s Most Innovative Companies by Fast Company.

At Cloudflare, we’re not looking for people who wait for a polished roadmap; we’re looking for the builders who see the cracks in the Internet that everyone else has simply learned to live with. We value candidates who have the instinct to spot a "normalized" problem and the AI-native curiosity to create a solution using the latest tools. Our culture is built on iteration, leveraging AI to ship faster today to make it better tomorrow, while ensuring that every improvement, no matter how small, is shared across the team to lift everyone up. If you’re the type of person who values curiosity over bureaucracy, and that AI is a partner in solving tough problems to keep the Internet moving forward, you’ll fit right in.

About the role:

The Talent Analytics Intern will serve as a strategic researcher within the Talent Acquisition and People Analytics departments. This role is responsible for designing and executing research projects that provide deep insights into the efficacy of our hiring processes, the drivers of high performance, and the factors influencing employee retention. Unlike traditional data analyst roles, this position requires a deep understanding of organizational behavior, HR/recruiting processes and the employee lifecycle. The intern will be expected to create standardized frameworks and documentation that will remain with the organization, ensuring that their summer contributions serve as a permanent foundation for future analytical efforts.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to define critical research questions related to quality of hire, recruiting processes, workforce planning, retention, and employee lifecycle.
  • Balance quantitative data with qualitative insights (survey responses) to provide a full view of the candidate/employee experience.
  • Apply statistical methods and data science techniques (e.g., regression, clustering, forecasting) to large-scale HR datasets to build predictive models for attrition, quality of hire, and performance management.
  • Document methodologies and metrics definitions to promote a culture of continuous improvement/learning.
  • Translate complex findings into clear, actionable recommendations for People Team Leadership and Business Partners.
  • Conduct external market research on the future of work / AI, utilizing benchmark data and internal insights to support Cloudflare's efforts in attracting and developing the best talent.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Currently enrolled in a Masters or PhD program in Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Organizational Behavior, Statistics or a related field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to turn data into actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated track record and exceptional judgment handling sensitive data.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with statistical modeling and data manipulation using Python, R, BigQuery/SQL, and/or visualization tools.
  • Experience working with candidate and employee related data across the entire talent lifecycle.
  • Advanced coursework or research experience in applications of AI, work motivation, employee selection, job analysis, or psychometrics.
