Food Expeditor
DIVISION: Food & Beverage DEPARTMENT: Stars
REPORTS TO: Restaurant Manager CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt
POSITION SUMMARY
The food expeditor’s main duty will be to keep the efficient workflow between the kitchen and the tables. This is a fast-paced environment, and the main focus is to ensure guests’ orders are as ordered, with proper presentation, and delivered in a timely manner.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. Plan and manage the order flow
2. Make sure that all the orders are prepared in time
3. Assist and manage the final preparation of different food and dishes
4. Control and oversee dishes before they leave the kitchen
5. Ensure adherence to all relevant quality and sanitation rules and regulations
6. Provide assistance in cleaning activities
7. Serve as a contact point for the kitchen and the wait staff
8. Take care of customers with special needs and requests
9. Ensure excellent client service
10. Give suggestions for the improvement of the restaurant’s offerings and reputation
11. Execute a variety of different tasks as needed in accordance with managers requests and directions
12. Assist in other areas as needed.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Skills
Ability to communicate in English with hotel guests, and employees to their understanding. Ability to provide friendly, efficient, and courteous service to guests. Ability to access, input and retrieve information on the computer system. Ability to memorize menus. Ability to handle the stress inherent in interacting with co-employees and resolving guests’ problems. Ability to work under pressure, be organized, self-motivated and work well with others. Strong positive attitude and ability to initiate light conversation with guests. Knowledge of hotel property and operating hours of each guest service area. Basic knowledge of St. Michaels and surrounding areas. Ability to provide legible communication. Ability to complete work in a timely, accurate and thorough manner. Ability to work effectively and relate well with senior management, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the Inn. Knowledge of find dining service. Understanding of the luxury hotel and fine dining environment. Additional foreign language skills a plus.

Equipment to Be Used
· Standard office equipment, including telephone, computer, printer, copier, calculator, fax; other restaurant equipment including MICROS and Open Table.
Physical & Mental Requirements
· Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear; frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, feel and reach with hands and arms; frequently required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
· Must be able to lift equipment, supplies, etc. of at least 50 pounds.
· Must be able to resolve problems, handle conflict, and make effective decisions under pressure.
Work Environment
· Interior of hotel—exposure to direct sunlight, high humidity, extremes of heat and cold, noise, and other conditions associated with the hotel and restaurant environments.
· Exterior of hotel including the Terrace and “the Point” – exposure to direct sunlight, high humidity, varying weather conditions and temperatures, noise, and other conditions associated with the hotel & restaurant environments.
· The work environment includes high guest contact and noisy, crowded environment; may involve varying conditions and circumstances with guests, staff, visitors, government agencies, etc
