POSITION SUMMARY: 

Under the general supervision of the Field Service Manager, this position exists to drive a lube truck and performs off-site lubrication by servicing, completing preventive maintenance work on heavy equipment; performing minor mechanical field repairs on equipment; maintaining records and preventive maintenance schedules for assigned equipment.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Drives a lube truck to various locations and performs servicing on diesel powered vehicles and equipment by fueling, lubricating, changing oil, changing air and oil filters, and checking and adding fluids, including windshield washers, transmissions, cooling systems, brakes, and differentials.
  2. Performs all requirements found in any Caterpillar Lubrication & Maintenance Guide.
  3. Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on brake adjustments, leak repairs, removal and installation of radiators and thermostats and replacing hoses, fan belts, alternators, regulators, and batteries.
  4. Makes any necessary adjustments on engines as well as to the components in the various systems.
  5. Replaces heavy equipment components including grader blades and cutting edges.
  6. Provides mechanical preventive maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
  7. Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  8. Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations.
  9. Makes warranty recommendations and reports in representation of a CAT product.
  10. Maintains quality service by following organization standards.
