Job Description

The opportunity

Adobe Design is looking for a Staff Experience Designer to join the Document Cloud team and help shape the next generation of AI-powered experiences in Acrobat.

Acrobat is used by hundreds of millions of people worldwide, and we are reimagining how people interact with documents through generative AI, conversational interfaces, and intelligent workflows. Our goal is to move beyond isolated AI features and build a cohesive, unified AI experience that helps users consume, comprehend, create, and collaborate with documents in fundamentally new ways.

As a Staff Designer, you will help define how AI shows up across Acrobat’s surfaces — crafting conversational experiences, shaping unified interaction patterns, and turning complex AI capabilities into simple, intuitive workflows.

You will partner closely with product, engineering, and research leaders to explore new paradigms, influence strategy, and bring ambitious ideas to life.

If you’re excited about designing AI-first experiences at global scale and tackling deeply complex interaction challenges, this is an opportunity to work with an exceptional team on some of Adobe’s most forward-looking work.

What you’ll do

  • Design. Develop sketches, end-to-end flows, prototypes, and polished UI that bring conversational and AI-driven experiences to life across Acrobat.

  • Simplify. Translate complex AI capabilities into intuitive, human-centered interactions that help people understand, navigate, and work with documents more effectively.

  • Unify. Define interaction patterns that connect AI experiences across surfaces and workflows, helping Acrobat feel coherent rather than a collection of isolated AI features.

  • Champion. Develop strong points of view grounded in research, product insight, and systems thinking — advocating for solutions that feel trustworthy, useful, and clear.

  • Influence. Drive alignment across product, engineering, and leadership through compelling storytelling and thoughtful articulation of design rationale.

  • Collaborate. Work closely with product managers, engineers, and research partners to shape how conversational and generative AI capabilities are introduced into Acrobat.

  • Explore. Prototype new interaction models that leverage AI to rethink how people read, understand, and act on information in documents.

  • Elevate. Uphold a high bar for design craft and interaction quality while helping raise the level of thinking across the team.

  • Inspire. Partner across teams working on generative AI to help define the future of intelligent document experiences.

  • Adapt. Stay curious in the rapidly evolving AI landscape, anticipating how new technologies can reshape document workflows.

What you need to succeed

Must-haves:

  • 10+ years of proven product design experience.

  • A portfolio demonstrating exceptional UX and visual design across responsive, multi-surface experiences.

  • Proficiency in modern design and prototyping tools, including Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and deep expertise in core UX principles and methodologies.

  • Empathy for both customers and teammates, with a process grounded in listening and understanding.

  • A strong sense of ownership and accountability to move work forward in ambiguous environments.

  • Adaptability to design with current and new technologies, and evolving user experience patterns.

  • A proven track record of leading complex, ambiguous projects from concept to execution.

  • Exceptional collaboration and communication skills, using listening and empathy to drive alignment and progress.

  • Dedication to inclusive, accessible, and respectful design practices.

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience crafting information-centric workflows, and experience with AI/ML-powered product experiences.

Preferred Accessibility Design Skills:

  • Experience designing accessible and inclusive interfaces for people with disabilities.

  • Familiarity with WCAG standards and testing for accessibility compliance.

  • Certifications such as CPACC, WAS, CPWA, or ADS from IAAP are a plus.
