Access Management Engineering Team

The Okta Access Management Team builds the foundation for authentication and authorization across Okta-protected resources. Our mission is to enable customers to access these resources securely. We develop Okta cloud services and client software that allow users to seamlessly login to devices and use Okta authenticators to access applications securely. The Access Management team is part of Workforce Identity Cloud (WIC) Engineering. Our team is fast-growing and impactful at Okta. About You

The team is seeking a highly technical and experienced engineer on Android application platform & SDKs. The ideal candidate should have solid experience in software development and be enthusiastic about writing Android client software. The role gives the candidate an excellent opportunity to learn about interesting problems in the security and identity space.

• You will join the Android Client Foundations team to design and implement foundational blocks and core platform components for Okta’s mobile line of products like Android Okta Verify app, Fastpass, Device Assurance etc and public SDKs.
• You are a highly technical and experienced engineer. You have a passion for working on mobile platforms, with deep expertise and extensive experience on the Android platform.
• You have successfully built an enterprise or consumer product on the Android platform.
• You are comfortable leading the technical path of an organization breaking ground in a new frontier.
• You will enjoy a high degree of responsibility and impact within Okta.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in Android development, evaluating and recommending new tools and approaches.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (QA, Product, Support, UX) for seamless integration.
• Propose and align on technical strategy
• Gather and refine requirements with Product and Engineering teams for prototyping Android client components.
• Following best practices, contribute to technical designs, proposals, and architectural decisions.
• Develop high-quality, maintainable software components with comprehensive unit/functional tests.
• Participate in code reviews, providing feedback and ensuring adherence to coding standards and security best practices.
• Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing within the team.

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• 14+ years of software development experience, with at least 5 years of experience in architecting enterprise software on Android. 
• Expert-level proficiency in Kotlin and a deep understanding of the Android SDK, Android Jetpack, and the broader Android ecosystem. Experience with Java is a plus.
• Proven ability to thrive in agile environments, utilizing continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) to ensure rapid and reliable software delivery.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work across functions.
