Job Summary
Red Hat’s Open Source and AI Program Office (OSAPIO) seeks a seasoned business strategist with a strong grounding in community engagement to build out our vertical communities practice for the financial services industry (FSI). In this role, you will work with stakeholders across the business to scope, build out, and revise processes for engaging with the specialized strategic communities with aprimary focus on the FSI space. Specifically, this role will be responsible for convening stakeholders from Engineering, the Office of the CTO, the Business Units, Marketing, and Sales to determine the decision criteria for evaluating how and where the business chooses to allocate resources in support of FSI community engagements. You will use those learnings to help the company create its strategy for successfully engaging in vertical markets where Red Hat has not traditionally had a presence.
You will work with the Industry Community Architecture team to build out a proposal for engaging with the FSI vertical communities based on stakeholder inputs, rewarding and refining this engagement plan in an iterative loop with stakeholders from across the business will be your primary focus. As part of the process, you will be responsible for understanding and sharing insights from the community landscape to inform the business’ decision process.
A successful associate in this position will leverage their strong community relationships in the FSI space and develop deep relationships across all of Red Hat’s business to create dialog and collaboration amongst all stakeholder groups while providing objective community-focused data to inform decision making.
What You Will Do (Key Responsibilities)
FSI Community Strategy and Engagement
Develop and execute the open source community engagement strategy for financial services and the use cases that will advance open source, and Red Hat’s technology and business strategy.
Rationalize Red Hat’s community commitments in the FSI vertical and influence the community with Red Hat’s opinionated technical choices to further Red Hat’s technology and business strategy.
Connect with and facilitate connections between stakeholders from the Field, Ecosystem Engineering, Partner Enablement, and the FSI stakeholders to community members to facilitate developer outreach into FSI.
Facilitate strategic partnerships as identified as part of the strategy.
Provide regular, proactive updates to OSAIPO leadership.
Market Intelligence and Data Analysis
Conduct data gathering and analysis of vertical community players, such as key open source projects, industry standards bodies, vertical consortias, and software foundations.
Understand and model scenarios of regulatory impacts.
Automate the scanning of industry news to understand OSS implications.
Develop and update the competitive landscape map.
Internal Leadership and Technical Guidance
Strategic Advisory and Resource Allocation: Provide a trusted, neutral perspective partnering with the Office of the CTO. Help stakeholders understand how to create the most value while determining how to allocate finite resources.
Technical and Architectural Expertise: Provide technical and architectural guidance. Act as an expert across a group of projects in a particular area and steer collaboration across projects.
Team and Functional Management: Work independently to set and achieve objectives tied to functional targets and goals. Propose new techniques and methods based on business context that have impact within the function. Coordinate activities of other team members (team lead) to ensure successful completion of projects and assignments, and mentor/provide guidance and advice to new team members. Work on varied and non-routine projects and resolve complex issues with creative solutions that impact overall function.
Stakeholder Management: Develop and maintain productive working relationships within sales and CTO function and lead cooperative efforts among teams to deliver results. Interact with senior colleagues and customers frequently
What You Bring (Required Skills)
Solid understanding of the FSI space; Typically, a minimum of 5 years of related professional experience to develop sufficient expertise.
Exceptional writing and speaking skills
Solid organizational skills and ability to prioritize the tasks that match short and long-term goals; ability to focus on those tasks and exclude less relevant tasks
Experience with open source developer communities; understanding of development processes and open source licensing
Proven track record building community engagement and engaging with multiple community stakeholders to achieve company goals
Will have overseen the origination and growth of a new project or community initiative.
Experience building communities online through social media and other tools is a plus

The salary range for this position is $160,910.00 - $265,380.00. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.Pay Transparency
Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity. For positions with Remote-US locations, the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
