Job Description Summary

The Vice President, Head of Enterprise Data Governance & Management, is responsible for leading and maturing the firm’s data governance operating model and managing data operations functions that ensure data across the organization is trusted, high-quality, well-defined, and effectively leveraged to enable business and client value. This leader will oversee data governance professionals, data stewards, and data operations/management analysts, and work closely with business and IT stakeholders across all Raymond James business areas such as wealth management, capital markets, Banking segment and other business units to establish data ownership, enable data literacy, and ensure responsible and compliant use of data.



The ideal candidate is forward-looking, understands how governance must evolve to support AI, is able to leverage active data governance to unlock business value and enable drive data driven insights for the business, model risk, and emerging regulatory expectations, and can translate data management and governance practices into meaningful outcomes for the business.

Job Description

Location: (Hybrid/Office Location) – St. Petersburg, Florida. 3 days onsite. 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and evolve the enterprise data governance and management framework, including data stewardship models, ownership structures, governance councils, and data domains. 

  • Manage the data management function, including data quality monitoring, data remediation workflows, metadata curation, and master/reference data operations. 

  • Act as a Data Product owner by working with business units closely to understand their data and analytics requirements and translate that into an actionable roadmap for execution 

  • Oversee and develop the data governance & operations team, including data stewards, governance analysts, and data quality / lineage analysts. 

  • Drive data lineage and metadata management in partnership with Data Architecture and Data Engineering; ensure governance requirements are embedded into data and analytics delivery workflows. 

  • Establish, maintain, and monitor data quality rules, controls, KPIs, and dashboards, ensuring visibility and remediation of data quality issues. 

  • Embed governance guardrails into AI / ML model development and usage, supporting responsible data use, model transparency, and model risk control expectations. 

  • Collaborate closely with all Raymond James business areas such as wealth management and capital markets leadership to ensure data governance directly enables business value, operational efficiency, and improved client experiences. 

  • Prepare governance maturity reporting, data quality trend analysis, and risk posture updates for executive leadership, audit, and regulatory stakeholders. 

  • Drive data literacy and adoption, leading a Data Steward / Data Champion community that strengthens decentralized accountability and shared data ownership. 

  • Monitor industry trends, regulations, and emerging technologies to continuously improve the governance and data operations strategy. 

 

 Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, Business, Finance, or related field. 

  • 10+ years of experience in data governance, data operations, data management, or enterprise data programs, with strong exposure to wealth management and/or capital markets environments. 

  • Proven experience building and leading data governance or stewardship programs, including data quality frameworks and metadata management processes. 

  • Strong understanding of data domains common to financial services (e.g., client, account, holdings, transactions, performance, pricing, market data). 

  • Experience with enterprise metadata and lineage platforms (e.g., Collibra, Ab Initio Metadata Hub, Informatica EDC, Alation, etc.). 

  • Tool-specific expertise is a plus, but the key requirement is the ability to evaluate, operationalize, and drive adoption of the right tooling capabilities. 

  • Familiarity with AI governance, model lifecycle controls, and responsible data use practices. 

  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to lead through collaboration and manage stakeholders at all levels. 

  • Demonstrated ability to connect governance priorities to business outcomes and drive measurable value. 

  • CDMP or similar data management / governance certification preferred.
