Job Description

Join us as Head of Global Aerospace Actuarial on a 12 month fixed term contract.

How you will create an impact

This role is responsible for leading the pricing, planning and portfolio management actuarial support and reviewing, agreeing and communicating reserve results for AIG’s industry leading Aerospace businesses globally totaling nearly $1bn of GWP.   As part of the global management team, this individual will provide actuarial advice and data driven insights that will support underwriting decisions.  The role will report to the Head of Global Specialty Actuarial.

Some of the key responsibilities include:

  • Provide thought leadership into the profitability of the book of business and guide senior leadership in making decisions on growth, rate action, remediation and product changes.

  • Ensuring the delivery of regular, consistent and reliable analysis and recommendations for all areas of the business, regular underwriting performance studies to improve the understanding of the current and projected financial stability and risk profile risk of the business.

  • Support the development, alignment, and execution of portfolio strategies, working with global product line leaders and regional teams located across the world.

  • Management responsibility of overseeing a team of pricing actuaries.

  • Work closely with the technical pricing function to enhance pricing and modelling capabilities.  Drive the implementation of first-in-class rating and portfolio management tools.

  • Review, agree and confirm reserving output for Aerospace from global reserving team.

  • Collaborate with regional actuarial functions supporting a one-team ethos.

  • Work closely with underwriting, reserving actuaries, claims department, and cat modelling/risk aggregation to identify insights that will be used to improve risk classification and enhance risk aggregation.

  • Engage with finance on execution of planning exercise and forward looking scenarios.

  • Individual account pricing on large accounts and schemes.

What we're looking for:

  • Senior level actuarial pricing experience within General Insurance

  • Ability to communicate actuarial concepts to non-specialists is highly desired

  • Proven leadership, influencing and negotiation skills in a highly matrixed environment; able to resolve differences while maintaining positive working relationships

  • Proactive individual, who challenges existing processes, can influence others and drive a process to a conclusion while meeting critical deadlines

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills, with thorough attention to detail

  • Strong project management skills and drive-for-results mentality, with the ability to multi-task and make decisions in a business context
