The Engineering Automation team at Johnson & Johnson develops and implements innovative process and logistics automation solutions, optimizing manufacturing operations while ensuring compliance with pharmaceutical industry regulations.

Within this team, we are seeking a motivated, technically minded engineer to support the implementation of automation systems on site.

The role combines Operational Technology (OT) knowledge and engineering fundamentals with project execution skills, and considers opportunities from technologies such as computer systems, data analysis and artificial intelligence.

  • Support definition of technical and functional requirements for new automation systems.

  • Evaluate and recommend technologies for data integration, process automation and improved user experience.

  • Plan and oversee project activities (scheduling, milestone tracking, vendor coordination) to ensure timely delivery aligned with business objectives.

  • Support commissioning activities, FAT/SAT execution and system validation in regulated environments.

  • Maintain technical and project documentation (specifications, manuals, test plans) in accordance with company standards.

  • Support system lifecycle management to improve efficiency, reliability and maintainability.

  • Promote and evaluate innovative technological solutions for OT/IT integration, data analytics and cybersecurity.

Required Qualifications

  • University degree (preferably Automation, Computer, or Electronic Engineering; outstanding candidates from other disciplines will be considered).

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, and strong organizational abilities.

  • Analytical mindset with effective problem‑solving skills.

  • Commitment to continuous learning and ability to adapt technological solutions to business needs.

  • Good command of English (B2 level or above).

Desirable skills & experience

  • Experience in industrial automation, control systems (PLC, SCADA, DCS), and OT/IT integration.

  • Familiarity with data analysis tools or programming languages for industrial applications (e.g., Python, SQL, data visualization tools).

  • Experience in commissioning, FAT/SAT and validation activities in regulated environments (GxP, CSV).

  • Knowledge of industrial networks and protocols (Ethernet/IP, PROFINET, OPC‑UA) and basic OT cybersecurity principles.

  • Project management skills and experience coordinating vendors and technical stakeholders.

  • Familiarity with version control/documentation tools.

What We Offer

  • A collaborative work environment with support from internal and external experts.

  • Opportunities for professional growth within an innovative and dynamic organization.

  • The chance to contribute to the technological transformation of the pharmaceutical industry.
